Rain caused postponement of today’s scheduled NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International until 10 a.m. Monday. Ford drivers AJ Allmendinger and Marcos Ambrose, who will start second and third respectively, spoke about waiting another day to race.
AJ ALLMENDINGER – No. 43 Best Buy Ford Fusion – DOES THIS BOTHER YOU TO HAVE A DELAY LIKE THIS? “It doesn’t bother me. Of course, you’d like to be racing right now but this is part of it and this is the way it works. There have been times where it rained and because of that I didn’t get a chance to race or qualify, so I know we’ve got a fast race car and when we drop the green we’ll be there.” IS IT HARD TO SIT AND WAIT KNOWING YOU HAVE A CAR CAPABLE OF WINNING? “I’m trying to just stay pretty relaxed and have fun with the guys. I’m just gonna hang out and be ready when it’s time to go whenever that is.”
MARCOS AMBROSE – No. 9 Stanley Ford Fusion – WHEN YOU HAVE A CAR AS GOOD AS YOU DO DOES A WEATHER DELAY LIKE THIS MAKE YOU MORE ANXIOUS? “No, not at all. It keeps me relaxed. You can’t fight the weather, so I just worry about stuff you can control. I’ve got the kids here with me, so I’m going to play with them a little bit and chill out. There’s not much you can do, just use the time to play a bit of Playstation, play with the kids and have something to eat.” WILL THIS RAIN CHANGE ANYTHING FOR YOU AS FAR AS CAR SETUP? “No. The cover is on the car and it’s ready to go. There’s nothing you can do until the sun comes back out.”
