No. 30 Great Clips Chevrolet News and Notes
. Turner Motorsports and Great Clips Racing are proud to welcome legendary road course specialist, Boris Said, to the seat of the No. 30 Great Clips Chevrolet for this weekend’s NAPA Auto Parts 200 at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This will mark Said’s 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut. In 22 NNS starts over nine years he has captured one win, two pole awards, six top-five and seven top-10 finishes.
. This weekend, Said is returning to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve as the defending race winner. In the closest margin of victory ever in an NNS road course event, Said beat fellow road course ace Max Papis to the finish line to capture the checkered flag for his first ever NNS victory.
. Needing a quick trim last week Said went to his local Great Clips salon to get his famous hairdo styled, but if he gets to victory lane he could be going again. He recently revealed that if he wins at Montreal he will let the haircare salon brand cut his hair any way they chose!
“Last week I said ‘I need a hair cut’ and I actually went to a Great Clips with no idea who my sponsor would be,” Said commented. “If I win Montreal, I’ll let them cut my hair any way they want!”
. Infamous for his uniquely curly hairstyle, Said joins another driver famous for his locks, Jason Leffler, in sporting the colors of Great Clips Inc. in Montreal. Leffler’s No. 38 Chevy will sport the new ‘Online Check-In’ paint scheme while Said will sport the traditional black and red scheme.
. The No. 30 Great Clips team will unload chassis TMS-303 this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This is the same chassis Ricky Carmichael piloted to a ninth-place finish at Road America.
. In 23 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 19 top-five and 45 top-10 finishes. All three of Turner Motorsports’ championship-contending drivers are inside the top-six in the driver point standings with Sorenson in second, Allgaier in fifth and Leffler in sixth.
. This season marks Great Clips’ 10-year anniversary as a primary sponsor in the NNS. The Minneapolis-based Great Clips, Inc., which is currently the longest-running primary sponsor in the series, came onto the scene in 2001 as a primary sponsor of Akins Motorsports No. 38 entry, then driven by Christian Elder.
Boris Said on returning to Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
“I am excited to go back to Montreal and defend my win with Turner Motorsports. They are a great organization that has proven they can win. They have some of the best equipment on the track and with Hendrick power under the hood I know we are going to have a fast Great Clips Chevy.”
