No. 31 Florida Gulf Safe Chevrolet News and Notes

•Florida Gulf Safe Adorns the Hood… Florida Gulf Safe will return to the hood of Justin Allgaier’s No. 31 Chevrolet Impala this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. A campaign launched by the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to combat the low consumer confidence in Florida’s Gulf seafood, the ‘Florida Gulf Safe’ sticker can be found on seafood to emphasize the safety and availability of Florida seafood harvested from the Gulf.

•Allgaier Heads to Montreal Fifth in Points… Allgaier held onto fifth-place in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) championship point standings, 80 points behind leader Ricky Stenhouse Jr. All three championship-contending Turner Motorsports drivers are currently in the top-10, with Reed Sorenson in second and Jason Leffler in sixth-place.

•Montreal by the Numbers… The 25-year-old Turner Motorsports Chevy driver has two NNS starts at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, with his best finish of ninth coming in August of 2010. He has an average start of 31.5 and average finish of 22.5.

•This Week’s Impala… The No. 31Florida Gulf Safe Chevy team will hit the track with chassis TMS-302 this weekend at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. This chassis last saw track action at Road America where Allgaier held a fourth-place average running position and was on track to claim victory, but ran out of fuel while under caution on the white-flag lap.

•In the Loop… Thus far in 2011, Allgaier ranks among the top-10 in several of NASCAR’s Loop Data statistics: Quality Passes (4th), Fastest on Restarts (7th), Laps in the Top-15 (7th), Average Running Position (7th), Percentage of Laps Run on the Lead Lap (8th), Fastest Early in the Run (9th), Fastest Speed in Traffic (9th), Green Flag Speed (9th) and Fastest Late in the Run (10th).

•Turner Motorsports In the Hunt… In 23 Nationwide Series events in 2011, Turner Motorsports-prepared entries have notched three wins, 19 top-five and 45 top-10 finishes.

Justin Allgaier on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve:

“I really enjoy coming to Montreal each year. It provides a unique challenge that most tracks don’t during the season. It’s a very challenging track where I’ve had finishes on each end of the spectrum. We’re bringing our car from Road America, so I know it’s fast. I just need to keep it on track and stay clean. I’m sure we’ll come home with a solid finish at the end of the day.”
