PREVIOUS RACE RECAP:Two weeks ago at Pocono Raceway Peters and the No.17 team fought Mother Nature and lost as the race was halted after only 17 laps due to rain. The race resumed the following morning under sunny skies. The track had changed dramatically and Peters began to fight a loose-handling race truck. Despite the condition, Peters was able to hang on and bring home a 10th-place finish his second top-10 finish in two visits to Pocono Raceway.
Timothy Peters Talks about Michigan International Speedway:
The No. 17 team is bringing a brand-new truck to Michigan this weekend. What are your thoughts on the new chassis?
“This is the third new chassis we have built this season. They keep getting better and better each time we bring one to the track. Michigan has been somewhat of an Achilles heel for me. I am looking forward to taking this truck on its maiden voyage this weekend and hopefully walking away with my career-best finish at MIS.”
Red Horse Racing has five wins in their short history in the Truck Series. However, wins at 1.5-mile and 2.0-mile speedways have been elusive. Do you think Michigan is the place where Red Horse Racing can break through and capture a win?
“I believe it is. I grew up short-track racing and that is where I am more comfortable. However, we have worked really hard this year to try and complete the package at Red Horse Racing. All of our wins have been very special, but a win at a track like Michigan would really help put me and Red Horse Racing in a different category.”
You are currently sitting fourth in the Truck Series point standings – only 23 points from the lead position. What is it going to take to win the 2011 Truck Series Championship?
“It is going to take consistency. The team that can finish top-five week in and week out is going to be the team that takes home the hard-ware at the end of this season. It is going to be the group that can have a bad day and turn it into a good finish these last 10 races that we will crown champion. We sure would like it to be us.”
