Roswell, GA (August 31, 2011) – Paul Wolfe, WYPALL crew chief spokesman and crew chief for the No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge driven by Brad Keselowski, has been named the WYPALL* Wipers Crew Chief of the Race following the Irwin Tools Night Race on Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Wolfe made a critical call about halfway through the race when he elected to keep Keselowski out on the track while most other drivers chose to come in, and Keselowski remained in the top five.
Keselowski remained up front most of the day, running some of the fasted laps on the track and never falling below seventh position. Consistant strategy and work by his crew chief gave him the confidence to stay at the front of the field.
On the final restart of the night at lap 421, Keselowski shot past race leader, Martin Truex Jr., and scored his third victory of the season.
“Man, this dream team really came to life this weekend,” said WYPALL Wipers crew chief representative and FOX/Speed analyst Jeff Hammond. “They had unbelievable runs, and Paul did everything right, including bringing a great car to the race track.”
WYPALL Wipers Crew Chief Results
Steve Addington, Kurt Busch and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil team finished 17th after experiencing two pit-road penalties for speeding. Starting from the tenth position, Busch fought a tight-handling car in addition to his penalties.
“It was just a difficult night for us all the way around,” Busch said. “We were playing catch-up all race due to the two pit-road penalties. We finally made it up to 10th in the Shell-Pennzoil Dodge with less than 100 laps to go, but had our worst pit stop of the night under the last caution and lost six spots back to 16th. We went with an adjustment that made it just too tight to advance any more after that. We just had to dig extra hard to hold on to what we had. It certainly wasn’t the night we expected to have here at Bristol.”
