Bodine Finishes 9th at Atlanta in NTB/Service Central Tundra
Mooresville, NC (09-05-2011) – Todd Bodine and the No. 5 NTB/Service Central Tundra crew held their own in Friday evening’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event. The race was slowed by five cautions for 25 laps but finished with a long, 49-lap green flag run to punctuate the 130-lap race. Bodine qualified 19th and finished ninth. Bodine said his truck’s setup was just a touch shy of what he needed to move up in the finishing order.
“We missed it just a little bit. The NTB/Service Central Tundra really wasn’t too bad, it was just too tight on exit. I couldn’t carry my momentum off the corner. We were good into the corner, good through the middle. We went with a whole different kind of setup at Atlanta and it wasn’t too bad,” said Bodine, who ranks tenth in points after Atlanta.
Long green-flag runs at Atlanta aren’t uncommon, though one that represents more than a third of the event to close out the race in the Truck Series is pretty unusual.
“Atlanta usually is this way. Though, it’s not for the trucks so much, but for the other divisions. I would have never thought it was
going to go the rest of the way without a caution, but it did,” described Bodine of the 49-lap caution-free segment to end the race.
Crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. would have loved to get one more chance to work on the NTB/Service Central Toyota on pit road.
“Our Germain Racing pit crew did a great job with adjustments on our stops. I think if we had one more trip to pit road, we were a fourth-place truck or maybe better,” said Hillman.
Bodine and Hillman race next with the No. 5 Tundra at Chicagoland Speedway. The Toyota will sport the colors of International Trucks and Monaco RVs as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competes in the 18th event of the 2011 season on Friday, September 16th at 8:00 PM Eastern.
