. Chad Kendrick will assume the position of crew chief this weekend at LVMS. Kendrick has been on a four-race suspension since Atlanta in September, after receiving a penalty at Lucas Oil Raceway in July.

The “Dirt” on the Desert: White looks to “cash-in,” Vegas style, in Saturday’s Smith’s 300 at LVMS. The NCWTS veteran is making his 125th series start this weekend, but is still looking for his first elusive NASCAR win. With the 1.5-mile tri-oval marking the birth-place of his season-best finish of third (2009), White hopes to join other notables in getting his first series win in “Sin City.” David Starr brought home his first series win in 2002 at LVMS, Shane Hmiel in 2004 and most recently, Johnny Sauter captured his series first win in the desert in 2009. In 14 series starts at LVMS, 12 different drivers have been to victory lane and White hopes to add his name to that list on Saturday.
Burn-Out Bowl-Off: Jason White and his No. 23 Joe Denette Motorsports team will participate in the 4th Annual Burn-Out Bowl-Off to benefit Speedway Children’s Charities on Thursday night, October 13. The event, hosted by Brendan Gaughan and the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa, is an annual event the NCWTS garage looks forward to every year. Jason White, an avid bowler, is a previous winner of the tournament. With bragging rights and a trophy on the line White has built an “All-Star” team and is ready to strike out.
White, Statistically Speaking-Las Vegas Motor Speedway: In four starts at LVMS, White has one top-five, two top-15 and three top-20 finishes, scoring his career best finish of third in 2009. White’s average start at the 1.5-mile tri-oval is 19.0 coupled with an average finish of 15.2 and had has completed 94.0 percent of laps attempted (550 of 585).
20 Down, 5 To Go: With five races remaining on the 2011 NCWTS schedule, White has earned one top-five, three top-10, seven top-15 and 12 top-20 finishes. The Richmond, VA native has led 50 laps and recorded an 18.4 starting average coupled with an 18.3 finishing averaging and has completed 95.05 percent of laps attempted (2976 of 3131).
Whatcha Haulin?: White will pilot “JDM07” from the Joe Denette Motorsports stables in Saturday’s Smith’s 300 at LVMS. This is the same GunBroker.com Chevrolet that White piloted in Pocono (August), Chicago (September) and most recently at Kentucky Speedway.
Get to the Point: Following a 24th-place finish in the 12th Annual Kentucky “225” at Kentucky Speedway for White and Joe Denette Motorsports, the No. 23 GunBroker.com Chevrolet is 20th in the 2011 NCWTS owner point standings. White remains 17th in the 2011 NCWTS driver point standings.
That’s What He Said…Quoting Jason White:
Las Vegas is a gambling town and drivers are usually considered gamblers on the race track. Would you consider yourself a gambler?
“I think I’m willing to roll the dice if necessary, but I guess it all depends on the situation. As a driver when you are put in the right situation where you need to gamble, I’ll take the chance and do what I have to do. I feel like I’m in a position now where I need to lay all my cards on the table. As a driver and as a team we have a lot to prove this weekend. It’s a track I enjoy and know that I can run well at. I know if I’m put in a position to “gamble”, that usually means you are doing something right. I would consider myself a gambler so I would go ‘all-in’ in the right situation.”
What is it about Vegas that you really enjoy?
“Vegas is a track I really enjoy coming to, it’s fast, there is a bump in turns 1-2 from the tunnel which make it challenging but the track is aging which means grip. I feel like as long as we qualify in the top-five I will have a chance of winning. Track position is so important and the race results every year show it.”
