CORNELIUS, N.C. – The No. 00 Aaron’s Dream Machine is going pink for Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. In support of breast cancer awareness month, driver David Reutimann will race a pink No. 00 in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race. For Friday night’s Nationwide Series race, Aaron’s will give 100 tickets to breast cancer survivors and co-survivors. No. 00 crew chief Rodney Childers says he’s honored to join in a program with Aaron’s that could lead to increased awareness to battle not only breast cancer but all types of cancer.

RODNEY CHILDERS ON THE PINK BREAST CANCER AWARENESS AARON’S DREAM MACHINE: “I think bringing awareness to the cause of breast cancer, and really any cancer, is really important. I think it’s really something special the amount of things that go on during the month of October to support the cause – whether it’s football games, baseball games, racing – whatever. It’s pretty cool to see how much is put into it. Hopefully it’s something that they can keep bringing awareness to try to find a cure for it. There’s a lot of other things in the world that you almost wish could get as much attention as what they get with the breast cancer stuff, but all-in-all it’s really good. I’m glad we’re doing it and hopefully it can help in the future to save lives and move forward.

“When I was really small my Mom’s best friend died of breast cancer. I know how much that hurt even though I was only about four years old. And it’s not just about breast cancer, although that is a huge part, but the research that goes into breast cancer probably helps find cures for a lot of other kinds of cancer as well. I know the whole pink deal is around breast cancer, but it helps in a lot of different ways also. I’ve got an uncle that has dealt with colon cancer and is still fighting the battle and one of my best friends has lymphoma and is just getting through all his stuff with that. It really doesn’t matter what kind of cancer it is – it’s a big deal, and we need to do all that we can do to help.”

ON AARON’S SUPPORT: “Aaron’s really goes out of their way to be a family company and promote a family atmosphere. A lot of times they think about families and how they can get involved to make things better. The breast cancer awareness car is a prime example of that. They really go out of their way to promote, help raise awareness and do anything they can to support causes that are important to them and the families of their employees and customers. It’s amazing to me that they’ll do that and for such a great cause. It’s pretty special to work with a company like that. I’m proud to have them as a member of our team and on our cars each week.”
