CONCORD, N.C. (Feb. 20, 2012) – RAB Racing with Brack Maggard has named 2003 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Travis Kvapil as the driver of their No. 09 Toyota Tundra for the season-opening NextEra Energy Resources 250 at Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 24.
Kvapil, 35, has compiled nine wins, 50 top-five and 84 top-10 finishes in 142 Camping World Truck Series starts since 2001.
“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to race at Daytona in the Camping World Truck Series,” said Kvapil. “It’s a place I’ve come close to winning at in the past. Robby Benton runs a first-class operation. I know he’s assembled a great group of guys around this No. 09 Toyota Tundra, and I’m optimistic that we can go down there and have a shot at winning the race.”
In six series starts at the World Center of Racing, the Janesville, Wis., native has three top-five finishes, including a pair of back-to-back, second-place finishes in 2003 and 2004.
“We are very happy to have a driver with the credentials of Travis Kvapil driving our No. 09 Tundra at Daytona,” said Robby Benton, owner of RAB Racing. “Travis won the first race for Toyota in the Camping World Truck Series back in 2004, and he’s come close to putting a Tundra in the winner’s circle here at Daytona on a couple of occasions. We know that Travis will do a great job for us on Friday night, and we look forward to starting our Truck Series efforts on a strong note in 2012.”
