Roush Fewnay Sweeps Daytona 500 Front Row

For the first time in team history, Roush Fenway claimed both front-row positions in Sunday’s Daytona 500 pole day. It marked the second pole for RFR at the Daytona (Biffle, 2004).

RFR and the Daytona 500

This will be RFR’s 25th running of the Daytona 500, with the first coming on Feb. 14, 1988. All-in-all Roush Fenway has had 84 entries in the famed event, with 28 top 10, 14 top five and a victory in 2009 (Kenseth, 2009). The team has three runner-up finishes in the D500, including last season with Carl Edwards. All in all, 13 different drivers have race in the Daytona 500 for Roush Fenway.

Stenhouse to Make Daytona 500 Debut

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will become the 14th driver to race for Roush Fenway in the Daytona 500; making his debut in the famous event this Sunday. He will have lofty results to live up to, as both Jeff Burton and David Ragan posted top-five finishes in their RFR D500 debuts. Other notables: Mark Martin 41st, Matt Kenseth 10th, Kurt Busch 41st, Greg Biffle 21st and Carl Edwards 12th.

One to go; Counting Down to 300

Roush Fenway needs just one more victory to secure its 300th NASCAR win. The organization’s 299 NASCAR wins have been accumulated over the last 24 years. Trevor Bayne became the 17th Roush Fenway driver to win a NASCAR race for Roush Fenway last fall in Texas. Roush Fenway scored its first NASCAR victory on Oct. 22, 1989 with Mark Martin at Rockingham Speedway. RFR is the winningest team in NASCAR and in the NASCAR Nationwide and truck series’ divisions.
