2004 RFR Sweep Race Occurrence

In February of 2004, Roush Fenway accomplished one of the hardest feats in NASCAR, sweeping all three events at California Speedway. Mark Martin won in the truck series on Friday, followed by wins by Greg Biffle and Matt Kenseth in the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series. Despite the degree of difficulty, RFR went on to accomplish the feat twice more in 2006 at Bristol and Homestead.

Winning Ways…

Roush Fenway Racing has won seven times in the Sprint Cup Series at California, having won in the Cup Series there in five of the last seven years, dating back to 2005. In addition, Roush Fenway has won at least one NASCAR race at Auto Club Speedway in eight of the last 10 seasons.

More on Winning…

Roush Fenway has won at least two races at California during the same weekend four times, including sweeping all three events there in 2004. In addition, RFR swept both NNS races at Fontana in 2005, while winning both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide races there in the spring of that same season.

Getting it Done…

Roush Fenway’s Matt Kenseth is one of only three drivers in NASCAR history to post multiple wins at California. Kenseth has won three times at the track, with the first coming in ‘06 and the last in ‘09. In addition, he won there in the Nationwide Series in 2007. Former RFR driver Mark Martin drove a Roush Fenway Ford to victory lane in all three series at California as well (1998-Cup, 2005-NNS, 2006-Truck).

Strong In Southern Cal

Roush Fenway Racing has placed at least one car in the top 10 in 20 of the 21 NASCAR Sprint Cup races at Auto Club Speedway, including two in the top six last year. In addition, Roush Fenway has scored a total of 27 top fives’ and 46 top-10 finishes at the two-mile quad oval, and led a total of 1,440 laps in Cup action.

Nationwide Effort

Roush Fenway has won a total of six races in the Nationwide Series at Auto Club Speedway and has finished inside the top 10 with 60 percent (57) of its entries. In fact, Roush Fenway has twice swept the Nationwide Series at California (2004 and 2005) and completed 97 percent of its laps run in the series at the track.

Winning all the way around…

Overall, Roush Fenway Racing has won 15 NASCAR races at Auto Club Speedway (7 Cup, 6 Nationwide and 2 Truck).
