Previous race recap – Piquet Jr. and the No. 30 Turner Motorsports team had the dominant truck for last weekend’s inaugural race at Rockingham Speedway. The Brazilian native claimed his first NCWTS pole and led 107 laps of the 200-lap event. An unfortunate pit road speeding penalty forced the team restart from the back of the field with 20 laps to go. Piquet Jr. battled back to an impressive seventh-place finish. Nelson Piquet Jr. on returning to Kansas Speedway
“After a weekend like we just had at Rockingham Speedway, I’m definitely ready to get back behind the wheel. Last weekend really showed how competitive my team is, as well as Turner Motorsports as a whole.”
Crew Chief Chris Carrier on Nelson Piquet Jr. at Kansas Speedway
“Nelson ran very well at Kansas Speedway last year, so heading back to a comfortable track is a good thing. The layout of a track like Kansas fits his driving style very well. The surface is very rough because of the climate, but after Nelson’s run at a bumpy track like Rockingham Speedway, I’m not worried about how rough it is. Our team will be very competitive this weekend”
