U.S. Cellular Continues as Race Sponsor for August NASCAR Nationwide Series Event

[media-credit name=”Iowa Speedway” align=”alignright” width=”222″][/media-credit]Multi-year Deal Has Huge Implications for Fans

NEWTON, IA – (April 19, 2012) – Officials from U.S. Cellular and Iowa Speedway have come to an agreement on extending the track’s annual late summer NASCAR Nationwide Series event sponsorship, the U.S. Cellular 250. Details of the contract were not disclosed, but both companies confirmed this multi-year deal means the marquee event will continue to provide fans with some of the best racing in all of motorsports, as proof by the spectacular finish in the 2011 event.

The U.S. Cellular 250 NASCAR Nationwide Series race, scheduled on Saturday, August 4, is expected to draw one of the season’s biggest crowds at Iowa Speedway. Event sponsor since the inaugural event in 2009, U.S Cellular is excited for another great year and the future of the event.

“U.S. Cellular is revved up to continue our partnership with Iowa Speedway and be the title sponsor of this NASCAR Nationwide Series event for a fourth straight year,” said Don Cochran, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Iowa. “We look forward to seeing another full crowd August 4 and many happy race fans at every Iowa Speedway race this year. We encourage race fans to visit the U.S. Cellular Rewards Club, which will be at all five major race weekends this year. The exhibit allows consumers to participate in fun and engaging activities for free, while learning about and utilizing U.S. Cellular products and features, such as the Samsung Galaxy S Aviator and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. These devices run on our 4G LTE network, with speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G.”

According to Chuck Spicer, vice president of sales and marketing for Iowa Speedway, having U.S. Cellular on-board says a lot about the fan support the speedway has.

“Without our race fans continually packing into our stands and supporting our sponsors, we would not have this race,” Spicer expressed. “Our fans see value in the racing product of the Nationwide Series, as well as our other races, at Iowa Speedway; and our sponsors see the same value in the fans. For us to give the fans a great experience, we need great sponsors like U.S. Cellular that actively and aggressively promote the race.”

Fan promotions are starting up, as well. ‘The Ultimate Fan,’ driver appearances at retail store locations, race-day texting alerts, and much more are already in the works.
