(April 24, 2012) – While the No. 01 Chevrolet team of JD Motorsports might have a bare hood and upper quarter panels on their car, that’s not going to slow their determination for a great finish at Richmond International Raceway this Friday.
Wallace and the Newt Moore-led team have put together some solid runs through the last few races. And, with a Friday night under the lights at the .75-mile oval of RIR, they know that’s the perfect spot to continue their roll.
While the team searches for marketing partnerships to help the business part, the team is working just as hard to get faster on the track. The team never slows in their work efforts; that’s for sure.
Two consecutive Friday-night races are just as exciting for the drivers as it is for the fans. And, a short track like RIR never disappoints on either end of the racing spectrum.
Mike Wallace Info • This will be the St. Louis native’s 423rd career NNS starts and seventh of the 2012 season. • To date, he’s 13th in driver points trailing 11th by four markers and has completed 95.4 percent (1,116 of 1,170) of laps contested • The team has earned three top-20 finishes in the last four races • In 26 prior starts at RIR, Wallace has earned one top-five and two top-20 finishes • His best start, and finish, of fourth took place in 1996 • Leading a total of 28 laps, Wallace has completed 5,557 of 6,411 laps contested (86.6 percent)

However, tune into ESPN 2 at 4 p.m. to catch qualifying, which is followed by race coverage at 7:30 p.m. on the same channel. Radio listeners can tune into MRN Radio and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90.
Mike Wallace Quotes: “We can talk about how we’re looking for sponsorship all day long, but the one fact that doesn’t change about this team – we never stop working to get better. Newt (Moore, crew chief) has been working with Johnny (Davis, team owner) on our cars every week and the guys have been working hard to be better for every race.
“We know we’re capable of being better and everyone is working towards that goal. This team is made up of true races who enjoy the competition. That’s why a short track like Richmond is the perfect place for us to have some fun, race as hard as possible and get some good results.
“I grew up on short tracks racing under the lights on Friday nights. So, when it comes to Richmond and all the excitement that goes with a Friday night short track – I know everyone turns up the excitement level just a little bit more. I’m going to do my best to be part of the action out there on Friday night.”
