(May6, 2012) – Matt Kenseth led a race-high 78 laps and teammate Greg Biffle was strong all day, as Roush Fenway finished third and fifth in Sunday’s Sprint Cup Race at Talladega Superspeedway; the pair finished third and fifth on the day. With the finish, Roush Fenway leaves Talladega first and second in the Sprint Cup point standings, with Biffle holding a seven-point advantage over Kenseth.
Kenseth and Biffle restarted first and second on the races final restart on a green-white-checkered finish. The duo got out to a big lead,but Biffle was unable to stay tucked up behind Kenseth as the field caught up.Still, the pair was able to hang up for the top-five finishes.
“Our Best Buy Ford was really fast today and nobody could stay locked to it,” said Kenseth. “Greg (Biffle) gave me a great push there on the last restart and we got over into turn two and by the time I realized we were separated we were separated by four car lengths…I should have just made sure that we stayed sealed up and had a chance (to win).”
Carl Edwards was caught up in a mid-race accident and finished 31st. Kenseth and Biffle combined to lead 93 laps in the race, with Biffle leading 15 on the day.
