MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 11, 2012) – The Dale Jr. Foundation will commemorate its five-year anniversary with a special paint scheme on Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew/National Guard Chevrolet for the NASCAR Sprint Cup All-Star race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

This marks the fourth consecutive year that Earnhardt Jr.’s primary sponsors, Diet Mountain Dew and National Guard, have donated its primary space on the No. 88 Chevrolet to The Dale Jr. Foundation. This year the No. 88 car will feature orange, black and white colors with TDJF’s theme, “Driven to Give: 5 Years of Giving” on the hood.

“What The Dale Jr. Foundation has been able to accomplish since we started in 2007 has exceeded my expectations,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “Thanks to the generosity of many people, we’ve been able to make a difference and donate to a lot of great foundations. I’m especially grateful to the folks at Diet Mountain Dew and National Guard who have given the Foundation this paint scheme again. It means a lot to me to have their support.”

As part of the fifth anniversary, TDJF is asking fans and supporters to donate $5 through www.thedalejrfoundation.orgWith their donation, fans will become automatically eligible to win monthly prizes such as Dale Jr. memorabilia and autographed items. Donations will directly support one of TDJF’s five core causes and values: hunger, education, empowerment, wellness and hope.

The Dale Jr. Foundation has raised more than $1 million in cash and non-cash donations for more than 300 local and national charities since its inception in 2007. Fundraisers this year include a raffle to win Dale Jr.’s personal 2011 Camaro. Tickets can be purchased at www.WinDaleJrsRide.com. The winner will be drawn the morning of Oct. 1. The foundation is also auctioning off parts of a 200-piece Earnhardt memorabilia collection through its eBay store each week through July 28. Visit TDJF’s eBay store at http://stores.ebay.com/the-dale-jr-foundation for more information.

“With the All-Star car we wanted to not only celebrate what The Dale Jr. Foundation has done over the past five years, but also thank our fans for their continued support,” said Lauren Caldwell, project manager for The Dale Jr. Foundation. “We’ve been fortunate to donate to numerous charities that directly impact our communities and schools, none of which would be possible without the fans support and donations.”

Barring an Earnhardt Jr. victory in Saturday night’s Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, the one-off paint scheme will appear in the Sprint Showdown with the opportunity to advance into the Sprint All-Star Race by winning the Showdown or fan vote at www.NASCAR.com.
