Proceeds to benefit the Kevin Harvick Foundation

Kernersville, N.C. (May 21, 2012) – NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick will trade his steering wheel for golf clubs Wednesday in the Kevin Harvick Foundation’s third annual John Paul Linville Memorial Golf Classic Presented by BB&T Wealth.

Proceeds from the tournament, held at Cardinal Golf & Country Club in Greensboro, N.C., benefit the Kevin Harvick Foundation, established in 2010 by Kevin and DeLana Harvick to enrich the lives of children across the United States. Funds raised Wednesday go toward the Kevin Harvick Foundation’s efforts to support local programs for children in foster care, including the Chase Your Dreams Grant Program, Kevin’s Krew and Christmas for Kids Party.

Linville was DeLana’s father, a Kernersville native who lost his battle with cancer in 2005 and serves as the inspiration for the tournament and the Foundation’s spirit of servitude. A NASCAR driver and avid golfer, Linville played an active role in charity golf tournaments for years.

“I’ll take my driving skills over my golfing abilities any day, but I’m happy to embarrass myself on the links to raise money for the Kevin Harvick Foundation and the hundreds of children who will benefit,” Kevin Harvick said. “If you’ve ever seen the joy and sincere appreciation on the face of an underprivileged child upon receiving much-needed food or other necessities, you know exactly why these 18 holes of golf are for them.”

The tournament is made possible with the support of platinum sponsor, SPEED; gold sponsors, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Sprint and the Jimmie Johnson Foundation; and silver sponsors, the Ryan Newman Foundation and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet.

Wednesday’s tournament is one of several Kevin Harvick Foundation events scheduled throughout the year. Also slated for 2012 are various Kevin’s Krew events; Happy’s Classic Golf Tournament; Happy’s Birthday Bash; the Wyndham Championship Foundation Pro-Am; and the Kevin Harvick Foundation Christmas for Kids Concert in Winston-Salem, N.C., among others.
