Charlotte NASCAR Nationwide Series Preview

This weekend, NASCAR Nationwide Series Driver Tayler Malsam will make his first NNS start at Charlotte Motor Speedway aboard the #19 G-Oil Toyota Camry from TriStar Motorsports. Fans can tune into the History 300 this Saturday, May 26 at 2:30 pm ET on ABC.
• Currently in his first full season of Nationwide competition, Malsam, 23, stands 11th in the 2012 NNS championship after being in the top 11 through the first 10 races.
• TriStar is the top non-Cup affiliated team in the 2012 NNS standings after the first ten races.
Charlotte Record: Malsam has two prior starts at Charlotte, both in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He drove the #81 Toyota One Eighty to an 8th place finish here as a rookie in 2009 and finished 13th in 2010.
Tayler Malsam Comments: On Iowa: “Iowa was probably our most consistent race of the year, from practice through qualifying and into the race. We ran hard and were 15th and looking at a decent finish when the right front tire let go. We took a pretty good hit, and that was the end of our day.”
On Charlotte: “I’ve had a couple of pretty good runs here in the Truck Series and I’m hoping that some of that will carry over for G-OIL and our first Nationwide start here.”
Rick Carpenter, TriStar General Manager, Comments: “Tayler and the G-OIL Toyota are way overdue for a break. We had a great start to the season, but the last five races have been pretty frustrating. Tayler, Eddie Pardue, and the TriStar crew did a great job at Iowa. Tayler was 17th in practice, qualified 16th, and ran in the top-15 until we lost a tire. We were heading into the final third of the race looking for a good finish and it just didn’t happen. “ “Here at Charlotte, we want to be relentless. We are running quicker and with greater consistency, though the last five finishes don’t show it. We had five top-20 finishes (6-20-16-18-16) in the first five races. We are determined to get a good finish here and help put Tayler and the G-OIL Toyota back in the top-10 in Nationwide points.”
