SPARTA, Ky. – Ford will team with Ford Dealers in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana to support Kentucky Speedway’s race day traffic management for five 2012 NASCAR events including the Sprint Cup Series “Quaker State 400” by sponsoring 170 new acres of free parking east of the 107,000-capacity venue.

Fans arriving at the speedway in Ford vehicles will be directed to park in forward sections of the expansive Ford Parking area.

Lots that make up the area will bear the names of Ford models including the Louisville, Ky., built Escape, which will serve as the speedway’s Official Pace Vehicle; Fusion, which races on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit; and F150, which competes on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series tour. Each model can be equipped with Ford’s new EcoBoost gas-turbo direct-injection engine that improves fuel economy as much as 20 percent without sacrificing Ford’s signature power. A parking lot also is expected to display the name of the brand’s iconic Mustang model, which is featured on the NASCAR Nationwide Series circuit.

“Ford and our local Ford dealers are excited to strengthen our partnership with Kentucky Speedway on this major initiative to expand parking and convenience for race fans all across the tri-state and beyond,” Ford Cincinnati Regional Manager Greg Wood said.

Ford Parking will combine with repurposed land on the original Kentucky Speedway property to accommodate an estimated 20,000 additional vehicles.

The Saturday, June 30 “Quaker State 400” anchors a NASCAR tripleheader weekend that opens Thursday, June 28 with the Camping World Truck Series “UNOH 225” and continues Friday, June 29 with the Nationwide Series “Feed The Children 300.”

The speedway’s second 2012 weekend spotlights the Sept. 21 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series “Kentucky 201” and the Sept. 22 NASCAR Nationwide Series “Kentucky 300.”

Tickets, campsites and daily infield Fan Zone passes for all events can be purchased by logging on to http://www.kentuckyspeedway.com/tickets, calling 859-578-2300 or visiting the speedway corporate offices at 1 Speedway Drive, Sparta, Ky., 41086 just off of Interstate 71 Exit 57 and the seven-lane Kentucky Highway 35.
