Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) WHERE YOU ABLE TO DIAL-IN YOUR CAR WITH THE TWO NEW LEFT-SIDE TIRES? “I think we’re getting out Miller Lite Dodge better. We’re sure a lot closer speed-wise on this tire compound. I’m a big fan of the new tire. As a driver you’re a fan of what makes your car go fast and this compound seems to have made our car come alive.
“It’s going to be a really interesting race. We may get some rain overnight. We have new left-side tires. We have a repaved racetrack. It’s fast. Who knows what’s going to happen tomorrow.”
WERE YOU ABLE TO SUFF-IN THE LEFT-SIDE TIRES? “Yep. We scuffed what we could.”
Travis Geisler (Director of Competition, Penske Racing) “I think we were definitely more competitive. I mean, we haven’t been in the left-side of the board all weekend and it had been a tough one for us, I’ll tell ya that. I think we had made some good decisions last night on what we could have done for the race of what we had going on but then the word came down about the tire change and then it was kind of a whole game change from there, kind of a hit the reset button and got a mulligan on this. You don’t get that very often in a race weekend so we’ll take it (smiles). We’ll do the best we can to make the most out of it tomorrow. I think it’s going to be an interesting race. I think changing the tire was absolutely the right decision to make. I think there was going to be a very difficult race to get through on the old tires so I give Goodyear and NASCAR credit for realizing we had a little bit of an issue and being able to respond this quickly so that we all get some track time with it. Everybody feels a little more comfortable now and those guys did an awesome job. Goodyear is a great partner in this sport. The guys there sending e-mails last night at 11 o’clock with data so we knew what we had coming to us. Our guys were working on it; it kind of felt like racing a little bit last night (smiles). It’s nice that it could come together and at least have a good competitive practice.
I think we’re a whole lot happier than where we were so we’ll take that and massage on it a little bit more tonight. I think it was interesting here watching all the guys scuff tires and trying to get in all the sets. To see what was orchestrated today by everybody is a testament to everybody in this sport and how hard they work at it.”
