(ELKHART LAKE, WISCONSIN) June 24, 2012 – Now we know why Jason Bowles was so excited for the road courses on the 2012 NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule. Road America is the first of three on the year and Bowles drove an excellent race all afternoon long. After running much of the Sargento 200 solidly inside the top-15, the American Majority team recorded a 14th place finish, propelling Jason into sole possession of 14th in the point’s standings.
“It was great to run up front all day with some of the best teams and drivers,” explained Jason. “My American Majority No. 81 Toyota was strong all weekend long and I can’t thank John (Monsam) and the rest of the guys enough for all of their hard work.”
The American Majority Toyota was strong right out of the hauler, running 9th in the opening practice session. Jason put down a smooth lap in qualifying putting him 15th on the grid for the green flag. As the many pit strategies of the rest of the field fell into place for the finish, Bowles found himself inside the top-10 with 15 laps to go. A quick off-course excursion put Jason back a few spots, but he was still able to recover quickly and score his third top-15 finish of the season.
“Our cars are getting stronger and I’m very optimistic about the rest of the season. If we can keep coming to the race track with fast cars like this, it’s going to be a great year,” stated Bowles.
The 14th place result was the best finish for Jason Bowles and his American Majority team this season. It also matched the finish by the team last year in this same race with Blake Koch behind the wheel.
Next weekend, the MacDonald Motorsports team rolls into Kentucky for race #15 on the NASCAR Nationwide Series schedule. The Feed the Children 300 goes on the air live at 7:00pm EST on ESPN2.
