History has been made… Nelson Piquet Jr. won his first NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) pole, and went on to capture his first NNS win at Road America this past weekend in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. This was the first win for a Brazilian in NASCAR, and a first for Piquet Jr. in one of NASCAR’s top-three series, in only his third NNS start.
This week’s Silverado… The No. 30 Magic Brazil team is bringing chassis TMS-215 to Kentucky Speedway for the UNOH 225. This chassis last saw action at Texas Motor Speedway, where the No. 30 team captured a top-five finish.
Bringing some Magic… Magic Brazil is on-board the No. 30 truck for this Thursday’s UNOH 220 under the lights at Kentucky Speedway. Magic Brazil is the official online store for Piquet Jr. in Brazil.
Twitter lends a hand… After Piquet Jr.’s native Brazil got wind of his pole position for Saturday’s race, they used social media efforts to pressure Brazilian media into showing the Sargento 200 live on television. Their efforts paid off, a scheduled soccer match in Brazil was shown at a later time so Piquet Jr.’s fans at home could witness him make history.
Watch LIVE… Coverage of the NC Education Lottery 200 will be live from Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 18th, 2012 at 8:00 pm EST on SPEED, with pre-race coverage starting at 7:30 pm EST. For even more coverage you can also tune in to MRN Radio or SiriusXM Satellite NASCAR channel 90.
Nelson Piquet Jr. on returning to Kentucky Speedway
“Last weekend was a dream come true for me, but more than anything right now I still want a win in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. My main goal is a championship this year, and I have not forgotten that. I want to win on an oval and show everyone that I’m not just a road racer. I’m ready to get back in a truck, I love Kentucky Speedway and I’m more than ready for my first win.”

No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet News and Notes
This Week’s Silverado… The No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet Silverado team will bring chassis TMS-214 to the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway for Thursday night’s 150-lap event. TMS-214 is the same truck Buescher drove to victory lane at Kansas Speedway earlier this season.
Battery Strong… Buescher and the No. 31 Turner Motorsports Chevrolet team will sport the blue and black colors of Exide Batteries again on Thursday night at Kentucky Speedway. This will be the Georgia-based company’s second race as the primary partner on the No. 31 machine in 2012. Exide Technologies, with operations in more than 80 countries, is one of the world’s largest producers and recyclers of lead-acid batteries. The company’s four global business groups — Transportation Americas, Transportation Europe and Rest of World, Industrial Energy Americas and Industrial Energy Europe and Rest of World — provide a comprehensive range of stored electrical energy products and services for industrial and transportation applications.
Double Duty… James Buescher will be a busy man while in the Bluegrass State. Not only will he pilot the No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet on Thursday night, but the 22-year-old driver will also be behind the wheel of the No. 30 Fresh From Florida Chevrolet in Friday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) event. This will be his 11th NNS start in 2012. In those 11th starts, he has collected one win, two top-five, and six top-10 finishes. He and the No. 30 team have an average finish of 9.0.
Get to the Points… Buescher is still in the thick of the NCWTS championship battle. He and the No. 31 Exide Batteries Chevrolet team sit 24 points out of the lead with 15 races remaining on the 2012 schedule.

Watch and Listen… The UNOH 225 be seen live Thursday, June 28th live on SPEED. Race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.
James Buescher on driving at Kentucky Speedway
“Kentucky Speedway is a great facility. We all look forward to going there and know it is going to be a great race. We have had success at all of the mile-and-a-half tracks this season, and I am expecting more of the same on Thursday night. To be successful at the track, your truck has to be versatile. The track is worn out and you have to be able to move around to find as much grip as possible.
“Our Exide Batteries team has consistently been a top-five truck week in and week out. We have been in contention to win more than one race this season, but have had circumstances that didn’t allow us to go to victory lane. [Crew chief] Michael Shelton and all the guys on this team do a great job making these trucks fast.”

No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components Chevrolet News and Notes
This Week’s Silverado…Miguel Paludo and the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components team will utilize chassis TMS-216 for this weekend’s race at Kentucky Speedway. This is a brand new truck which will be making its first laps of competition when it hits the track for Thursday’s race.
Off To The Races…The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) returns to action in the Bluegrass State, where Paludo will take on the 1.5-mile Kentucky Speedway. While the NCWTS has enjoyed two weekends off, Paludo kept busy by making his NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) debut last weekend at Road America. Turner Motorsports captured its second NNS win of the season after fellow Brazilian native Nelson Piquet Jr. dominated the road course race on his way to his first-career win. The victory was Turner’s fifth of the season across the three series in which it competes.
My Old Kentucky Home…Kentucky Speedway was site of Paludo’s second-career NCWTS start, one of only four races he competed in during his 2010 part-time debut season. This ties the Sparta, Ky. facility with Texas Motor Speedway as the track where the Brazilian driver had the most starts (three) prior to the start of 2012. In his previous trips to Kentucky Speedway, Paludo has topped the boards in practice and had strong race runs, but accidents or other misfortunes got in the way of a strong outcome, resulting in an average finish of 22.0 at the D-shaped oval.
Diabetes Fact of the Week…Prediabetes is a condition in which individuals 20 years or older have blood glucose or A1c levels higher than normal, but not high enough to be classified as diabetes. People with prediabetes have an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Studies have shown that people with prediabetes who lose weight and increase their physical activity can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes, and in some cases, return their blood glucose levels to normal.
Previous Race Recap…Paludo was off to a promising start in his NNS debut at Road America, qualifying in the top-10 and leading more than 16 miles around the 4.048-mile road course. However, with a top-five finish in his grasp, the No. 32 Duroline Brakes and Components Chevy Impala experienced a broken sway bar arm, requiring a trip to pit road late in the race and relegating Paludo to a 29th-place finish.

Watch and Listen…The UNOH 225 can be seen live on Thursday, June 28th on SPEED. Race coverage will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST. The event can also be heard live on MRN Radio as well as Sirius Satellite Radio, channel 90.
Miguel Paludo on driving at Kentucky Speedway
“I’m always excited about going to Kentucky Speedway because it was where I made only my second Truck Series start, so it’s a place where I have a bit more experience. I think the first time I went there, I was second and third in practice and we didn’t even run the third practice because our truck was so good and we didn’t want to wear out the engine. Starting out like that at a track you’ve never been to before makes you feel really comfortable and it makes you feel good about a place. In both races last year, I think we were always really good. The first race I was running top-five at the end of the race, and we just got caught up in an accident. The second race, I was running well and got loose and wrecked again.
“I’m a big fan of the track itself. It’s a racetrack with a lot of momentum and a lot of bumps as well. It’s one of the most unique places because you really feel the bumps all the time. I love it. I just want to have the same feeling I had last time, but I want to close the deal and finish well.”
