RUSTY WALLACE SECURES HALL OF FAME “TRIPLE CROWN”

–NASCAR Champion Elected to International Motorsports Hall of Fame’s 2013 Class–

MOORESVILLE, NC (July 6, 2012)–Officials of the International Motorsports Hall of Fame announced today that former NASCAR Champion and ESPN Auto Racing Analyst, Rusty Wallace, has been elected to the hall’s 2013 class. Joining Wallace in the class is car owner Rick Hendrick, former crew chief Dale Inman and drag racer, Don Schumacher.

With the announcement, Wallace becomes among the first twenty individuals to complete the “triple crown” of stock car racing’s major Halls of Fame. He was inducted into the National Motorsports Press Association’s Hall of Fame in 2010–alongside friend and former partner, Roger Penske–and was recently elected to the 2013 class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Additionally, Wallace was inducted last year into the St. Louis Sports Hall of Fame, being enshrined alongside many of his hometown’s sports heroes, such as Stan Musial and Ozzie Smith. He was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1998 and in 2006 was named a Missouri Sports Legend, the hall’s highest honor.

Noted Wallace, “First of all, I want to thank everyone who helped elect me to the International Motorsports Hall of Fame; it’s a huge honor. I’m totally blown away by the Hall of Fame announcements. Growing up on the short tracks in Missouri, I would have never imagined any of this; my family and I were just doing what we loved to do. Luckily, I’ve been able to make a great career out of it and just hope that I’m able to give back enough to the sport for all that it has done for me.”
