Lee’s Summit, MO – Domestic Violence is experienced by nearly one in three women in the US each year according to the 2010 National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey. And that one of the many reasons why Race4Girls and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) have partnered to create an awareness campaign that will launch in October 2012 called Race4 Domestic Violence Prevention.
“When Race4Girls started about a year and a half ago, we knew we wanted to do something in the area of domestic violence. In March we tested a program with the Sebring Safe Home in Florida. That proved to be a great learning experience,” said Tracey Passantino, Founder and CEO. “We wanted to see how we could best utilize our team of 20 professional female race car drivers to spread the word about preventing abuse.”
There are 8 drivers (Jennifer Jo Cobb, Lara Tallman, Kathy Fisher, Nancy Matter, Cassie Gannis, Beth Chryst, Ali Kern and Molly Rhoads) who will spend time in the community prior to the 10 collective races the will run in late September and all of October to educate people about domestic violence issues. Each racer will also feature the Race4 Domestic Violence Prevention logo prominently on their race cars.
Race4 Domestic Violence Prevention will be an ongoing campaign once it is launched. For information about becoming a sponsor, contact Tracey Passantino at tracey@race4girls.com.
“We are very excited about the partnership with Race4Girls. NCADV will be able to connect with a new audience to educate about ending violence in the family and gaining new allies to help us realize our vision of every home a safe home,” said Rita Smith, Executive Director, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Fundraising for NCADV and local domestic violence programs starts today and donations can be made at www.race4DVPrevention.org.
