QUALIFYING CANCELLED AT BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY
Bristol, Tenn. (August 24, 2012) – A thunderstorm invaded the “World’s Fastest Half-Mile” which forced NASCAR to cancel qualifying for the Irwin Tools Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway. The 43-car field has been set by the provisions set forth I the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) rulebook.
Team Chevy drivers starting in the top-20 include: Jeff Burton, No. 31 Caterpillar Chevrolet – 6th; Paul Menard, No. 27 Menards/Schrock Chevrolet -7th; Jeff Gordon, No. 24 Farm Ville/Drive To End Hunger Chevrolet – 11th; Kasey Kahne, No. 5 Hendrickcars.com Chevrolet -12th; Kevin Harvick, No. 29 Rheem Chevrolet -13th; Regan Smith, No. 78 Furniture Row/Farm American Chevrolet -14th; Dale Earnhardt Jr., No. 88 Diet Mountain Dew/National Guard Chevrolet -16th; Ryan Newman, No. 39 Outback Steakhouse Chevrolet – 19th and Kurt Busch, No. 51 Phoenix Construction Services Inc. Chevrolet – 20th.
A total of 16 Team Chevy drivers will take the green flag Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Live broadcast coverage will be provided by ABC TV, PRN Radio and Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 90.
