Drafting Soul Mate: Championship contender Timothy Peters will take on the rest of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitors this Saturday at Talladega Superspeedway for the Coca-Cola 250 presented by Fred’s. Famous for being dubbed the “Wild Card” in the final stretch of the series schedule, Peters knows that he and his Red Horse Racing No. 17 team will have to bring a fast Toyota Tundra to the track and exercise patience through all 250 miles to come out on top.

Peters is still looking for a top-five finish at Talladega, but has completed 100 percent of the laps in all of the races he’s competed in at both restrictor plate tracks on the series schedule. Avoiding the incidents on track and staying on the lead lap is the key to contention for the win at superspeedways, and Peters has the consistency that has kept him in the hunt. With a best finish of seventh in 2010, Peters looks to enforce a good drafting strategy that helped him at Daytona International Speedway earlier this year to improve his record this weekend.

“You have to find a good partner and stick with them to make the draft work. We’re regulated a little bit with what we can do because of the grill opening and the bumpers, but it’s going to come down to the last three laps and whoever you get hooked up with is going to be your soul mate to the checkered flag,” Peters claimed.

Appearing in Talladega: Timothy Peters will join his Red Horse Racing teammates Parker Kligerman and Todd Bodine at the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series autograph session on Friday, October 5th, from 2:15-3:00 pm underneath the OV Hill South Grandstands.

The Red Horse Racing drivers will also make an appearance for the fans at the Honda Generators display in the fan midway on Saturday, October 6, at 1:00 PM.

Previous Race Recap:The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series traveled to Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend in the midst of a tight championship points race battle for the Smith’s 350. Timothy Peters showed early promise in his Strutmasters.com Toyota Tundra, until an unscheduled pit stop 52 laps into the event threw the No. 17 Red Horse Racing team a curve ball. The challenge was met by experience and impressive strategy calls by Butch Hylton that helped Peters fight back for an eighth place finish.

Chassis History: Crew chief Butch Hylton and the No. 17 Red Horse Racing team have prepared chassis number 108 for competition at Talladega Superspeedway. Timothy Peters drove this Toyota Tundra to a runner-up finish in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season-opener at Daytona International Speedway, and finished 11th with this chassis as well at Daytona in 2011

Timothy Peters on Talladega Superspeedway

What kind of impact will the restrictor plate racing have on the championship points battle this weekend?

“This weekend at Talladega is going to be unpredictable because the racing there is always a crapshoot. We’ve had a tough couple weeks after our win at Bristol, but our Red Horse Racing team never stops working hard and I’m really proud of the comeback we had at Las Vegas last weekend. The hit in the points is disappointing but we’re not out of it yet by any means because we haven’t gone to the wild card race at Talladega yet. When you’re running by yourself, it’s sort of like watching paint dry, but when you get 36 of us together, racing four wide or three wide for the entire race, probably only a second from the first to the last truck, it gets pretty intense. We’re just going to have to keep doing what we’ve done all year and see where it shakes out at the end.”
