Brad Keselowski (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified Eighth STARTING EIGHTH IS EXACTLY WHERE YOU STARTED AT THE SPRING RACE HERE. YOUR CREW CHIEF SAID HE DIDN’T EXPECT YOU TO RUN THAT LAP. “It feels like the pole. It may not be the pole, but it feels like the pole for us. Our car has had a ton of speed since we’ve been here in race trim. Qualifying trim has been our weakness all year. I think that bodes very well for us on Sunday.”
DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING FOR THE 48 ON SUNDAY? “Yes. I think so (smiles).”
WHAT’S UP YOUR SLEEVE? “Some confidence and a great team that’s been digging hard. I just feel really good about this week.”
Sam Hornish Jr. (No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 17th “I was just a little bit free getting to the green flag for my qualifying run in Turns 3 and 4. I got to one a little but higher of a line than what I wanted to be. With the car being a little bit free I couldn’t quite turn down like I needed to. I just lost too much time in one and two. Three and four were really good. The guys have me a really good Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger today. I didn’t quite get all of the lap today that I needed. I was pretty happy with the way that the car was handling.”
WAS JIMMIE JOHNSON’S 28.26 SECOND RUN JUST THAT FAST? “Up until where the 1 car (Jamie McMurray) had run, I think a 28.81 was the quickest. Todd (Gordon, crew chief) asked me what I was going to run and I said a 63 (29.63). He started laughing and then Jimmie runs a 26 (28.26) and we ran a 26.628. We were pretty close. I told him I wish I would have picked a better number (laughs).”
