RUSTY WALLACE “PONYING UP” FOR CHARITY AT BARRETT-JACKSON

–Hall of Famer Auctioning “Nicest Car We’ve Ever Built” for Good Cause–

Barrett-Jackson-Auto-AuctionMOORESVILLE, NC (JANUARY 10, 2013)–2013 NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Rusty Wallace, will auction a special-edition NASCAR-style Ford Mustang next week at the 42nd edition of the world-famous Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale, AZ. All proceeds from Wallace’s pony car will benefit The NASCAR Foundation and its mission of helping children live, learn and play.

Said Wallace, “I am so proud of this car; this is the nicest car we’ve ever built out of our shop. It’s not a toy; that’s for sure. It’s one mean machine. I’m really excited to auction this car and raise a lot of money for The NASCAR Foundation.”

Nearly 3000 man-hours went into the Mustang’s construction. At the vehicle’s heart is a 358 cubic-inch V8, by Roush Yates Racing Engines, producing nearly 800 horsepower.

The car’s unique configuration features dual racing seats, making it perfect for days at the various motorsports country clubs appearing throughout America.

The vehicle includes unique, custom-designed aluminum wheels by Billet Specialties, Elite Series instrumentation by Auto Meter and a customized steering wheel by MOMO Italy / Max Papis, Inc., featuring The NASCAR Foundation logo. The pony car’s beautiful Sherwin Williams paint pays homage to the Mustang’s rich heritage, with classic racing stripes in sparkling silver.

Safety was a main priority in building the car. In addition to a full roll cage, it features dual SFI-approved seats with complete headrests and leg restraints, five-point safety harnesses, an on-board fire suppression system and a NASCAR-style fuel cell.

Noted Wallace, “I’m really passionate about this project; I’ve had a lot of fun with it. The car’s engine has a lot of power–about 800. Its paint is fantastic and everything on the car is really first-class. The person that gets this Mustang will be getting one of the highest-quality NASCAR-style cars you’ve ever seen.”

Wallace’s pony car is set to cross the auction block on Wednesday, January 16th, at approximately 10:00 PM eastern. Speed Channel will carry live coverage of the event, including interviews with Rusty Wallace and special behind the scenes footage detailing the car’s entire build.
