PAUL MENARD QUOTE:
Menard’s Thoughts on Racing at Richmond International Raceway:
“Racing at Richmond (International Raceway) is significant because when we go back there in the fall it’s the last race before the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. We want to do well and learn all we can this weekend, so we can take that knowledge and apply it to the fall race. Richmond is uniquely shaped so, as a driver, I’ve got to approach both ends of the track differently. It is shaped like a ‘D,’ and there is a really big arch going into turn one. Turn three is almost like a Martinsville (Speedway) turn. It has a really sharp entrance and it’s not very open. On exit, it opens back up with the ‘D’ shape. Hopefully we can keep our fenders clean this weekend and come home with another top-10 finish.”

KEVIN HARVICK QUOTES:
Richmond International Raceway is the second short-track race of the season, what are your thoughts heading into this race?
“Richmond has been a great race track for us through the years. It’s always fun to go there and do a little short-track racing, I really enjoy the style of racing that Richmond International Raceway produces. I’m definitely looking forward to getting back in the car there to see what kind of result we can walk away with.”
Short-track racing produces a lot of bumping and banging. How much can you do with the Gen-6 car?
“Not much. You want to bump and bang, but the bottom line is you don’t want to tear the fenders off the car so aerodynamically the car works like it needs to. You can definitely get a few bumps and dings in the fenders, but you don’t want to be tearing it up too much.”

JEFF BURTON QUOTE:
What are your thoughts heading into Richmond International Raceway this weekend?
“Richmond (International Raceway) is truly one of my favorite race tracks. It’s a fun time of the year and the weather is warmer. I think Richmond is the perfect size race track. It’s both big enough and small enough to produce good races. One thing we haven’t seen lately is the top groove come in. Most competitors are finding speed at the bottom of the race track. Hopefully, that top groove will come in. If it does, that will make the racing even better than it already is. I always look forward to going to Richmond.”

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:
Tell us what you’re looking forward to this Friday at Richmond International Raceway.
“I’m excited for Richmond (International Raceway), I’ve always had mixed results at the track. I like the position we’re at with this No. 2 team and their successes on short tracks. I’m looking forward to getting to Richmond; we have a little extra practice time to get our Camaro tuned in to what we need for Friday night’s race.”
Richmond International Raceway is a short track, but drives differently than a Bristol Motor Speedway or Iowa Speedway, how so?
“Richmond (International Raceway) is an old surface which causes the tires to wear a lot during a run. The exit going into turn two is really narrow so there isn’t a lot of room for error. For me that’s the most challenging part of the race track, getting the car to turn really well coming off of turn two. Overall, I think that really sets this track apart from a lot of other places we compete.”
Austin Dillon
No. 3 AdvoCare Chevrolet Camaro
Event Preview Fact Sheet
This Week’s AdvoCare Chevrolet at Richmond International Raceway … Austin Dillon will pilot Chassis No. 125 in the Richmond 250 at Richmond International Raceway. In his most recent appearance at the track (September 2012), he started second and led 14 laps despite struggling with a tight-handling condition in the center of the corners, ultimately finishing sixth.

The health and wellness company will pledge $2,000 to CIPT for a top-five finish and $1,000 for a top-10 finish. So far this season, the No. 3 team has raised $6,000 towards the cause. Several members of the Richard Childress Racing Team visited Brenner’s Childrens Hospital at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C. to great patients this week as part of their affiliation with CIPT. The Childress Institute invests resources in research, education and awareness to improve the treatment for critically injured children in the U.S. and AdvoCare’s generous donations are aimed at helping to raise awareness for pediatric trauma, the No. 1 killer of children in America. You can help save the lives of injured children by making a contribution to the Childress Institute in two ways: donate $33 in honor of Dillon via his website, or text WIN to 80077 to make a $10 donation.

COPD is helping to reduce the sport’s footprint by donating five trees for each lap the Dillon brothers lead during the month of April.
How Many Candles … Dillon will celebrate his 23rd birthday on Saturday, April 27.
Off Weekend … During the Nationwide Series off week, Dillon participated in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Goodyear Tire Test at Daytona International Speedway, driving the No. 33 Chevrolet SS.
AUSTIN DILLON QUOTE:
What do you think about Richmond International Raceway?
“One of the best things about Richmond International Raceway is that it’s similar to Iowa Speedway, a track where I have logged a lot of laps. It’s a fun track because you really slide around. You’ve really got to use the brakes at Richmond International Raceway. You don’t really touch the brakes much at mile-and-a-half long tracks, but braking is very important at a track like Richmond. Getting off the corner, having forward bite, and being able to adjust your car to make it really good for longer runs and then being able to go at the end when there is a late race caution are needed. I think we have a good package for Phoenix International Raceway, Iowa Speedway, Richmond International Raceway and a lot of the short tracks, so I am excited to get there and do some night racing.”
