Eric McClure’s Talladega Advance

Aaron’s 312 QUOTES & NOTES: Talladega Superspeedway

Eric McClure Quotes

What are your thoughts heading in to your first race at Talladega Superspeedway since your horrific accident one year ago?

“Obviously it’s something that crosses my mind, occasionally. People still talk to me about it though.  Truthfully, it had a bigger effect in our lives off the track than on it; but physically, there are still reminders of it.  However, it becomes just another race when you get to the track and you can’t dwell on things.  Accidents happen in this business and I look forward to competing there.”

What are your expectations for this weekend since you scored an 8th-place finish during the season-opener at Daytona Int’l Speedway?

“We have a great deal of confidence heading to Talladega.  We ran well last year prior to the accident and we had a fantastic day at Daytona a few weeks ago.  Finishes aren’t guaranteed as these races are X factors, but it’s nice going to these types of places knowing we will be fast and have an opportunity to be special.”

Hefty®/Reynolds® Racing NOTES

21st in Owners’ Points:  Following last weekend’s 26th-place finish at Richmond Int’l Raceway, Eric McClure and the TriStar Motorsports team jumped three positions to 21st in the NASCAR Owners Points standings, 20 markers behind the 20th position.

Ready for Redemption:  McClure will be making his 207th Nationwide Series start and his 7th at the 2.66-mile facility this weekend in the running of the Aaron’s 312.  In six starts, the Virginia native has completed 96.5% of the total laps attempted and has an average finish of 22.2.  One year ago, McClure was involved in a horrific late-race accident that resulted in him being air-lifted to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the accident.  The team was credited with a 27th-place finish.  This weekend however, he returns, ready for redemption after scoring an 8th-place finish in the season-opener at Daytona Int’l Speedway.

Chassis No. 16 :  McClure will pilot chassis No. 16 in this weekend’s NNS event at Talladega Superspeedway.  It was raced during the season-opener at Daytona Int’l Speedway where McClure scored not only a track-best finish but also a career-best finish of 8th.

Tune-In:  Saturday’s race from Talladega Superspeedway will be televised live on ABC Sports beginning at 3:00 p.m. (ET).  MRN (Motor Racing Network) and SiriusXM Radio Channel 90 will also broadcast the event live on Saturday, May 4.

About Reynolds Consumer Products

Two of the most trusted household brands, Reynolds® and Hefty®, joined together as Reynolds Consumer Products in 2010.  While the establishment of this new company made it official, the truth is that Reynolds® and Hefty® products have been found side-by-side in the kitchens of American families for more than three generations.

The creation of both the Reynolds® and Hefty® brands is the direct result of American ingenuity mixed with a bit of elbow grease.  Reynolds Wrap® Foil was invented after the use of aluminum for military purposes diminished after World War II and became a new staple for American kitchens.  Hefty® Waste Bags were first developed with excess material from an early plastics innovator, creating another household essential.

Today, Reynolds Consumer Products, headquartered in Lake Forest, Illinois offers a diverse product portfolio of essentials for every home.  From prepping, cooking and serving, to storage and disposal, Reynolds Consumer Products provides solutions for controlling the chaos of busy households everywhere.
