WALLACE SURGES TO 20th-PLACE FINISH AT IOWA

NEWTON, Iowa – After a day’s delay for rain, the DuPont Pioneer 250 got the green flag at Iowa Speedway Sunday, and Mike Wallace started the race from a deep hole.

Wallace, driving the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet, was 36th on the grid when the race finally got the green flag Sunday after rain swept through the speedway area Saturday night.

Wallace moved to mid-pack quickly and raced in the 20s throughout the event, rolling home 20th to stay in 17th in Nationwide Series points.

“We put on a set of scuffs (tires) at lap 50, and it was real bad,” Wallace said. “We got loose on the next run and got three laps down.”

The team then made a significant adjustment and Wallace took a wave-around on a restart. He finished the race strong but wasn’t able to recover from the one sour run.

“We stayed out of trouble and got better at the end, but we got too far behind in that second run,” he said.

The team moves on to Michigan International Speedway this weekend.
