GREG BIFFLE CAPTURES 1,000TH NASCAR WIN FOR FORD RACING WITH VICTORY AT MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

With Greg Biffle’s win in the Quicken Loans 400 Sunday, Ford Motor Company has now won 1,000 NASCAR races in the Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series combined.
The victory is the first of the season for Biffle and third of the year for Ford Racing in the Sprint Cup series.
The record win comes on the June 16th, the 110th birthday of Ford Motor Company.

GREG BIFFLE, No. 16 3M Ford Fusion (Victory Lane Interview) – WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YOU TO SCORE THAT 1,000TH WIN FOR FORD? “It is a pretty special day for us all together. It is Emma’s first victory lane on Fathers Day. I am thinking about my dad that couldn’t be here who is hopefully watching. We are thinking about little Charlie Leffler that doesn’t have a father today. It is a hard fought battle. It wasn’t easy. I kept working on this car and working on this car. The guys did a great job. The pit stops were flawless. You know, we beat the 48 today and that says a lot. He was really, really fast. Once we got out in clean air we could match up fairly well with the 48. He made a small mistake trying to catch us.”

WHEN YOU MADE THAT PIT STOP AND THE CAUTION FLAG CAME OUT, DID YOU HAVE A LUMP IN YOUR THROAT? “I had a lump because I didn’t want to give up all that track position. We were fortunate enough that the 48 had to start 10th. That is why we race every weekend, to see the luck of the draw and who makes the right decisions. We made the right decisions today and started back up front today. I was nervous I wasn’t going to be the leader but I was excited when they told me I was the leader still and the 48 was in 10th. I knew he had his work cut out for him and we were able to beat him that way.”

WHAT MADE THE DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU HAD THAT BATTLE WITH CARL EDWARDS, YOU JUST CHECKED OUT. “Once my 3M Ford Fusion gets out front the thing really goes. It loves clean air and once I could make it past those guys that thing really set sail. I knew Harvick was going to have some trouble and I was taking it easy on the beginning of that run on those tires. I didn’t think he would be able to hang for 25 laps. Then came the 48.”

JACK ROUSH, owner, Roush Fenway Racing – “I have been with Ford Motor Company and they have been supporting me for almost 50 years now and we expect to be at our best when we come to MIS and I am glad we could pull it off. I was a little nervous for a minute there, but I am glad it worked out and glad we could give Ford their 1,000th win.”

JAMIE ALLISON, Director, Ford Racing – “First I want to congratulate the winner Greg Biffle and his team. What a great moment this is. Thanks to all the Ford teams and Roush Fenway, Penske, the Wood Brothers, Germain Racing, Front Row Motorsports and Richard Petty Motorsports and all those that have accumulated these wins throughout the years. We couldn’t be prouder to have this moment come here today at Michigan in front of so many of our Ford friends. What a great race and a great day for Ford. We are celebrating the 110th birthday of Ford Motor Company today, and I can’t think of a better birthday present than this win here this afternoon.”
