WALLACE HOPES TO VISIT DAYTONA VICTORY LANE AGAIN
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Mike Wallace knows the thrills associated with taking the checkered flag first in a major race at Daytona International Speedway.
Wallace won the summer Nationwide Series (then Busch Series) race at Daytona in 2004, taking the lead on the final lap and holding off Greg Biffle, Martin Truex Jr., Robert Pressley and Mike Bliss for the win.
He’s back at the World Center of Racing this week for the Subway Firecracker 250.
“The restrictor plate tracks are our best tracks,” Wallace said. “I knew when coming to drive for Johnny (team owner Johnny Davis) that he always had some fast superspeedway cars. I’ve run well on those tracks and won some races, so we’ve continued that tradition.
“We’ve had some problems getting to the end of races and crossing the line not torn up. We’re going to Daytona this time with intentions of winning the race and letting the world know we’re there.”
Wallace will be trying to put the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Chevrolet in one of motorsports’ most famous victory lanes.
THE RACE: 250 miles, 100 laps, race 16 of the Nationwide Series season
