Sean Cronan would finish eighth and 11th in the pair of the features that made up the Don Biederman Memorial weekend at Sunset Speedway.
He would start off the afternoon by placing 11th in time trials, laying down a lap of 13.791 seconds.
As a result, he would line-up third in the third heat. However, he would not end up running the heat due to pulling on the track with a flat right front tire. As a result, he would have to run the b-main. He would finish third in the b-main to transfer to the a-main.
Cronan would start the feature in the 18th position and quickly beginning making up position, running 14th at lap 10. By the first caution at lap 17 for Maginnis and Owen getting together, he would be up to the 11th position.
However, trouble would strike Cronan, ending his progress, as he would go for a spin on lap 21 to bring out the second yellow. The restart had been a little messy, with contact made throughout the field. Cronan would restart the race at the back of the lead lap cars, ready to make his climb through the field once again.
By lap 37, two cautions later, he would be up to the 15th position. Another caution would fly on lap 45 for Glenn Watson getting into George Wilson. By that time, Cronan was running just outside the top 10 in 12th. On the restart, he would climb up into the top 10 – eighth – following an incident involving Charlie Gallant, Jeff Hanley and Todd Campbell.
For the final five laps, Cronan would keep himself solidly in eighth, finishing eighth for his first top 10 of the season.
As a result of his eighth place finish, he would start third in his heat on Sunday afternoon. He would avoid trouble and battle hard side-by-side for the lead for some laps, finishing second at the end.
As a result of his solid heat finish, Cronan would start fifth in the 50 lap feature later that night. He would slip back to sixth after being passed by Rob Poole on lap four. He would continue to run sixth till he was passed by Derrike Tiemersma on lap 35. He then get passed by Hanley on lap 36 to bump him back to eighth.
On a restart with nine laps to go, he would drop back to the 11th position after being passed by Andrew Gresel, George Wilson and J.R. Fitzpatrick.
Cronan would keep himself solidly in 11th to pick up his third straight top 15 finish of the season.
