ADVANCE NOTES
· Pastrana at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
o Travis Pastrana’s first NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway came last season. He started 19th and finished 13th, which was his best finish of his nine NNS starts last year.
· The Car
o The No. 60 team brings a rebuilt Chassis RK-740 to the track this weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This chassis has raced twice this season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, finishing 10th and 33rd, respectively.
· No. 60 Ford Mustang Pays Homage to X Games
o Roush Fenway Racing and Pastrana announced a unique tribute that will see the No. 60 Ford Mustang carry the X Games colors at both Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Iowa Speedway. Immediately following the NNS race in Iowa, Pastrana will head off to participate in LA X Games RallyCross.
o Pastrana’s X Games accomplishments are legendary, racking up 17 medals, including 11 gold. He brought home his first gold medal in 1999 as the youngest competitor to win in freestyle motocross. In 2006 Pastrana put himself in rare company, winning three gold medals in a single X Games, which included the famous feat of landing a double-backflip on a motorcycle, the first person to ever do so.
o “This is a huge opportunity for me to be able to bring some eyes from NASCAR over to the X Games and vice versa,” said Pastrana. “It’s never easy to compete and be competitive in more than one discipline, but I’ve made a career out of doing that. No matter what, that weekend will be a lot of fun. I haven’t won an event yet this year and it’s a good time to turn the season around.”
· Local Connections
o Two crew members return to their home state of Indiana this weekend. Dave Davis, of Fort Wayne, serves as the No. 60 team’s truck driver, while Lance Allen, of Haubstadt, is the team’s shock specialist.
· Recapping Chicago
o Pastrana qualified strong in the No. 60 Valvoline NextGen Ford Mustang, starting fifth. He ran in the top-15 until contact with another car that was making a green flag pit stop caused Pastrana to tap the wall, which led to an 18th-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway.
o He remains 14th in the NNS point standings.
