Getting the Turns Down… Though Dakoda Armstrong will be making only his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start at the 2.5-mile “Tricky Triangle” hidden in the Pocono Mountains, he is no stranger to the unique tri-oval. Making three starts in the ARCA Racing Series at Pocono Raceway, Armstrong gained a wealth of knowledge he can carry over to this weekend’s Pocono Mountains 125. With a best finish of second place in 2010 and over 225 laps turned in competition, Armstrong has his strategy down for conquering the track this weekend.

“Normally people say the track is tricky just because the corners are all different, so you it’s basically impossible to set your truck up to be perfect on all three corners,” Armstrong explained. “You can usually get the truck to work through two, but then you have to just deal with the other. Now that they repaved it, it took away some of the challenge in turn two, which used to be the toughest turn for me. I have a feeling it’ll be a challenge to get turn one right. But the repaving gave the track a lot of grip now, which might work to our advantage.”

This Weekend’s WinField Silverado… The No. 60 Turn One Racing team and crew chief Gere Kennon have prepared chassis 002 for this weekend’s competition at Pocono Raceway. Armstrong has been behind the wheel of this Silverado twice this season at Rockingham and Dover, and is hoping to turn around the results he’s accumulated with this chassis.

Previous Race Recap: Eldora Speedway… Returning to his dirt racing roots last Wednesday night, Dakoda Armstrong was no stranger to Eldora Speedway as the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series made its first trip to the famed half-mile dirt oval. Starting the Inaugural Car Cash Mudsummer Classic from deep in the field, Armstrong methodically picked his way forward with the No. 60 WinField Silverado during each of the three segments. Surviving a shootout to the checkers, the 22-year-old driver brought home an 11th place finish.

Dakoda Armstrong on Pocono Raceway…

What comes to your mind when you think of Pocono Raceway?

“Really long straightaways, and the tunnel turn (turn two) is really fun because you go through there really fast. But probably the thing I remember the most is running my first race there ever in the ARCA Racing Series and I had gotten in an incident earlier in the day, but we didn’t know it severed an oil line. So the pressure built up and then blew on a restart, catching the car on fire. It was definitely something I won’t forget.”

Broadcast Information… The NCWTS broadcast from Pocono Raceway will begin live on SPEED beginning with the NCWTS Setup at 9:00 pm ET, with radio coverage provided by MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.
