CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra team will unload Chassis No. 009 this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. Chassis No. 009 tied John Wes Townley’s career high finish (eighth) at Charlotte Motor Speedway after earning his third highest Truck Series finish at Rockingham Speedway where he crossed the finish line 11th. Townley also collected a top-15 finish at Texas Motor Speedway with this chassis.
MEET & GREET: Townley, along with teammates Germán Quiroga and Timothy Peters will visit the Camping World Store in Belleville, MI on Thursday, August 15th from 5:00 – 6:00p.m. for an autograph session. The trio will also join the NASCAR Camping world Truck Series drivers for an autograph session on Friday, August 16th from 4:15 – 5:00 pm at Michigan International Speedway in a tent outside Turn 1.
REARVIEW MIRROR – POCONO: Townley started 12th at Pocono Racway, after qualifying was set by practice speeds due to morning inclement weather. The No. 7 Zaxby’s Toyota Tundra team had a solid truck and fought through the middle of the pack, nearing the top-10 for the majority of the race. With a limited amount of laps in the Pocono Mountains 125, Townley drove a sensible race but got shuffled back on the last restart and had a 17th-place finish.
John Wes Townley on Michigan International Speedway:
You are 11 races into the Truck Series season. How do you feel about your season this far?
“I think things have been going pretty good. There have been a few minor hiccups but I think luck is involved in that too. Michigan is one of my favorite tracks, so I’m excited to get to the track and to be competitive. I always enjoy racing at the track and now being in the great equipment that Red Horse Racing has, I’m excited about the race.
Red Horse Racing make their 350th start this weekend. What does it mean to you to be a part of that?
“Being part of an organization that has a lot of knowledge and been around for so long, it’s an honor to be a part of it. They build great Zaxby’s Toyota Tundras and have all the right employees to make the team so great. It makes Michigan a lot more exciting.”
Timothy Peters
No. 17 Spartan Toyota/NextGen Toyota Tundra
Starts: 6 Top Five: 1 Top-10: 3
Avg. Start: 16.7 Avg. Finish: 14.8
Chassis: 015
SEASON AT-A-GLANCE: Though Timothy Peters is not where he wants to be in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings entering the 12th race of the season at Michigan International Speedway (MIS), he still has one goal in mind. The Championship. The Danville, VA native has earned one win (Iowa Speedway), two top-five and six top-10 finishes with 63 laps led so far this season. With six starts, one top-five and three top-10 finishes at MIS, Peters is sure to be a threat during the 100-lap Michigan National Guard 200.
350 FOR RED HORSE RACING: This weekend at Michigan International Speedway, Red Horse Racing will embark on a new milestone in their Camping World Truck Series career. With its three entries in the Michigan National Guard 200, the top-tiered Truck Series team will make their 350th Truck Series start. The team is currently competing in their ninth season and has amassed 11 wins, 11 poles, 72 top-five, and 141 top-10 finishes in their brief existence.
FOX SPORTS 1: The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be found on a brand new network this weekend as FOX Sports 1 (FS1) makes its debut on August 17th. The Michigan National Guard 200 will be the first major sporting event on the new station which is expected to reach 90 million households. Red Horse Racing would like to welcome FOX Sports 1.
VALVOLINE™ NEXTGEN™ TEAMS WITH SPARTAN TOYOTA & SCION: Red Horse Racing announced on June 12th a partnership with Valvoline™, the manufacturer of NextGen™ recycled motor oil made with 50% re-refined oil technology, for the remainder of the 2013 season. Valvoline also serves as an associate sponsor on the No. 7 and No. 77 Toyota Tundras.
CHASSIS HISTORY: Timothy Peters will utilize Chassis No. 15 this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. His No. 17 Spartan Toyota/NextGen Toyota Tundra chassis made its debut at the 2.5-mile tri-oval of Pocono Raceway.
MEET & GREET: Peters, along with teammates John Wes Townley and German Quiroga will visit the Camping World Store in Belleville, MI on Thursday, August 15th from 5:00 – 6:00p.m. for an autograph session. The trio will also join the NASCAR Camping world Truck Series drivers for an autograph session on Friday, August 16th from 4:15 – 5:00 pm at Michigan International Speedway in a tent outside Turn 1.
REARVIEW MIRROR – POCONO: Qualifying was cancelled at Pocono Raceway due to early morning rain which assigned the drivers by practice speeds from Friday afternoon. Peters started from the 18th position and was able to start advancing his position at the drop of the green flag. The Parts Plus driver fought loose conditions for the remainder of the race and ended up a respectable 14th-place. Post race, the crew discovered that the right front shock absorber had failed and undoubtedly had kept the truck from finishing significantly higher.
Timothy Peters on Michigan International Speedway:
How do you and your team refocus and rebound for the second part of the season?
“We just need to give the rest of these races 100 percent and work on consistency. Not that we haven’t had that, but we’ve have been scarred by bad luck. Before we’ve run well in the summer and bad luck strikes us in the fall. Hopefully that’s all flipped around for us and the bad luck is out and now it’s time to get out down to consistency. I think our team is the best at bouncing back from adversity. The team has a lot of good tracks ahead of us and hopefully we can start gaining on this championship.
What do you think about racing at Michigan International Speedway?
“I liked it before the repave because it was a challenge with multi grooves. Now it’s wide open and there is more side-by-side racing because the track doesn’t widen out. You’ll have a great race from the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and hopefully we’ll put on a good show in our Spartan Toyota/NextGen Toyota Tundra.”
Germán Quiroga
No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra
-No Previous Starts-
Chassis: 008
SEASON AT-A-GLANCE: This isn’t a typical NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Rookie of the Year season, and especially for three-time Mexico Series Champion Germán Quiroga. In 11 starts, the No. 77 NET10 Wireless Toyota Tundra driver has led 60 laps, collected two top-five and three top-10 finishes earning one pole position.
In two separate instances, Qurigoa has made history as the first Mexican-born driver to achieve milestones in NASCAR. Quiroga finished third at Texas Motor Speedway and at Pocono Raceway which is the highest finishing position for a Mexican. He also became the first Mexican to win a pole position in NASCAR. If the first part of the season is any indication, Quiroga is on his way to becoming the first Mexican to win in a National division of NASCAR.
350 FOR RED HORSE RACING: This weekend at Michigan International Speedway, Red Horse Racing will embark on a new milestone in their Camping World Truck Series career. NET10 WIRELESS®: Germán Quiroga welcomes back primary sponsor NET10 Wireless on his No. 77 Toyota Tundra this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. NET10 Wireless served as primary sponsor for the first seven races this season. The no contract cell phone leader will continue its support as primary or associate sponsor for the remainder of the season. For more information on NET10 Wireless, visit www.NET10Wireless.com.
CHASSIS HISTORY: Quiroga is back behind Chassis No. 008 this weekend at Michigan International Speedway. Last raced at Pocono Raceway, Quiroga tied his highest finishing position (third) for a Mexican in a national division of NASCAR. This chassis was also raced at Texas Motor Speedway where Quiroga initially made history with his third-place finish. The chassis also scored an 11th-place finish at Kansas Speedway earlier this year. The notebook for Chassis No. 008 started during the 2012 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. There, the chassis earned Red Horse Racing’s 10th pole position and took home a seventh-place finish.
MEET & GREET: Quiroga, along with teammates John Wes Townley and Timothy Peters will visit the Camping World Store in Belleville, MI on Thursday, August 15th from 5:00 – 6:00p.m. for an autograph session. The trio will also join the NASCAR Camping world Truck Series drivers for an autograph session on Friday, August 16th from 4:15 – 5:00 pm at Michigan International Speedway in a tent outside Turn 1.
REARVIEW MIRROR – POCONO: The Rookie of the Year contender started the 50-lap event at Pocono Raceway in the fourth position and remained up front in his No. 77 OtterBox Toyota Tundra for the majority of the race. In his first visit to the 2.5-mile track, Quiroga captured the lead during the first attempt at a green-white-checkered finish and took off from the field. Fighting to bring home his first victory in a National division of NASCAR, Quiroga led the field to a wild restart toward turn one on the second attempt at a green-white-checkered finish and emerged in fourth position as everyone headed toward the tunnel turn. He crossed the finish line in third-place.
Germán Quiroga on Michigan International Speedway:
Do you feel like, at this point in your Rookie Year, you are achieving what you set out to achieve?
“I wanted to fight for the Rookie of the Year honors all year long. We had the speed but I think I needed to learn a little bit more. Hopefully, I can answer that question in a few more races and talk about how comfortable I am and comfortable battling up front for positions.
This is the 350th Start for Red Horse Racing. What does it mean to be part of this Organization?
“When I was looking for a team to go with last year, I wanted a successful team and that was competitive and was able to win with any truck they have. That’s why I picked Red Horsse. Now being part of the team I realized how equal everything was and how we are all in competitive equipment. Tom DeLoach knows how to be successful and putting the right people in place. That’s part of building a champion team. I think this team will be champions soon. We have the potential and the Tundras to do so. I am happy to be a part of it.”
