MAKE MOTORSPORTS RICHMOND PREVIEW

-MAKE Motorsports to attempt a full race with Defiant Whisky and Danny Efland –

Shelby, NC (September 4, 2013) – Defiant American Single Malt Whisky will sponsor MAKE Motorsports to attempt to run the entire Virginia 529 College Savings 250. The race will take place this Friday, September 6 at the Richmond International Raceway. Danny Efland of Irmo, SC is the driver of the #50 Defiant Whisky Chevrolet. The Defiant Whisky Chevrolet’s Friday performance will culminate the whisky brand’s debut into Virginia. The Golden Valley, NC-based spirit was made available this week at many VA ABC stores.

Efland has been driving for the team most of the season in both the NASCAR Truck series as well as in limited NASCAR Nationwide Series appearances.  “Usually we do not have the resources to go the distance,” said Efland, “but, thanks to Defiant Whisky, we hope to compete successfully for the entire race.  I look forward to representing them at Richmond and in the future.”

Defiant Whisky Founder Tim Ferris says “NASCAR is one of the most iconic brands that so many people enjoy. This partnership, with a trusted and seasoned organization like MAKE Motorsports, fits perfectly with the Defiant Whisky fan base.”

The partnership continues a multi-year collaboration with the Shelby, NC-based motorsports company in an effort to heighten industry and public awareness of the Defiant Whisky brand, as well as expand its distribution.

Virginia 529 College Savings 250 will air on ESPN 2 on Friday, September 6 and begins at 7:30 p.m. ET, with a countdown beginning at 7 p.m. ET.

About Defiant
Defiant American Single Malt Whisky is the spirit conceived 500 feet below the sea. The makers are salvage divers by trade, working at the bottom of the ocean, often in a far away land, for months on end. And when they’re above sea level in the distillery, they work relentlessly to craft Defiant Whisky.

Only four parts and nothing more, create the Defiant experience: Premium American white oak, specially cultured yeast; two-row, premium brewer’s barley; and pure water from the aquifer under the distillery. At the core of the evolution are American white oak spirals made from premium cuts of wood. They are more efficient than barrels, and create a much smoother finish.

Defiant Whisky is currently sold at many ABC stores in North Carolina and Virginia and available at all NC and VA ABC stores upon request. It will also be sold in Rhode Island in the fall. Tours of the distillery are also available. Learn more at www.blueridgedistilling.com.
