Prime Time at “America’s Premier Short Track”:
Coming off last weekend’s event at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Georgia is no longer on the minds of TriStar Motorsports drivers and crews. Entering the 10th prime time event for the NASCAR Nationwide Series at the ¾ – mile of Richmond International Raceway, TriStar’s drivers prepare for 250 laps around “America’s Premier Short Track”. Also, on Friday night the NASCAR Nationwide Series will reach the 1,000th race mark with the commencement of the 33rd Annual Virginia 529 College Savings 250.
Bliss Hopes for Spring Repeat:
Mike Bliss, driver of the No. 19 Toyota Camry for TriStar Motorsports, will make his 18th career start at Richmond International Raceway for Friday night’s Virginia 529 College Savings 250.
Bliss has five top-10 starts at Richmond with one top-five and four top-10 finishes. His best finish came in 2007 when he placed fifth.
“Richmond is a great track,” said Bliss who finished 13th at the Spring event. “It’s not your typical short track. You have plenty of room and can actually pass in the corners.”
Green Still Keeping McClure’s Seat Warm:
Former Richmond winner (2000) Jeff Green will be behind the wheel of the No. 14 Hefty®/Reynolds® Toyota Camry for the fourth consecutive week. The team’s regular driver Eric McClure is still recovering from an illness that had left him hospitalized for eight days prior to the Nationwide Series event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in August.
“I have a lot of fun racing at Richmond,” said Green. “I’m still honored Eric has let me drive his car the past few weeks. Although I like working with his team, I look forward to his return.”
The Kentucky native has made 24 career starts at Richmond. He’s started from the pole position twice and has earned four top-five and six top-10 finishes.
He’s Back: Hal Martin Returns to Compete at Richmond:
With a new primary sponsor, a relationship that has matured over the course of his career, Hal Martin will make his second start at Richmond on Friday night, under the lights. Martin will highlight U.S. Forensic, a company he once worked for in New Orleans, Louisiana, as he takes to “America’s Premier Short Track” for 250 door-to-door laps in the Virginia 529 College Savings 250.
Martin has been anticipating his return to the Nationwide Series and is specifically excited to race again at Richmond. “This track is especially fun for me because Richmond is a short track and I really enjoy racing on short tracks,” exclaimed Martin. “You can race really well with other cars there, and the high speeds at this track are unbelievable. It just adds to its uniqueness as one of the raciest tracks on the schedule.” Martin added.
Scoring a 24th place finish in his Nationwide Series debut in the Spring, Martin looks to advance on his experience and earn a respectable finish in the No. 44 US Forensic Toyota Camry.
Chase Miller to Make Fourth Start at Richmond:
Chase Miller will continue to pilot the No. 10 for TriStar Motorsports this weekend at Richmond International Speedway. He anticipates making his fourth career start at Richmond and his third for TriStar Motorsports. In this event last year, Miller started 16th which was his best career start at the ¾-mile D-shaped oval.
