KANSAS-BOUND: Johanna Long and the No. 70 Foretravel Motorcoach Chevrolet team head to Kansas Speedway for the first time this NASCAR Nationwide Series season for the Kansas Lottery 300. The ML Motorsports team will bring back chassis No. 65 which was last used at Kentucky Speedway where the team finished 16th.
RACING IN THE SUNFLOWER STATE: In the 2012 event at Kansas Speedway, Long and the ML Motorsports team had a strong qualifying run that landed them inside the top-10. An incident at the halfway point in the race derailed the team’s fortunes, relegating Long to a 32nd-place finish.
IN THE REARVIEW: KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY: The 21-year-old driver rallied from a disappointing qualifying position of 36th to finish the day at 16th, marking their ninth top 20 of the season.
TRIP BACK HOME: Although Long did not participate in Nationwide Series competition last weekend, that did not keep her away from the track. Long competed in the Pro Series Late Model raceat 5 Flags Speedway, near her hometown of Pensacola, Fla.. . An on-track incident spoiled her chance to win during her homecoming, but Long noted that she always enjoys getting to race back home.
JOHANNA QUOTES: “Kansas is a track that I’ve been looking forward to getting back to for quite sometime now. We had a really strong car last year, and it was really disappointing not to be able to really see what it could do. We are coming off of a really strong finish at Kentucky Speedway and I think we will carry that positive momentum with us into Kansas.”
