Charlotte Motor Speedway | Dollar General 300
October 11, 2013

Just Down The Road…This weekend the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) for the second and final time this season. Allgaier will be making his 11th start at CMS, where he has two top-five and five top-10 finishes. He’s also led six laps at the 1.5-mile speedway. In the May CMS race, Allgaier started 14th and finished seventh in the BRANDT Camaro. CMS is a home race for both Allgaier and Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM). Both are based in Mooresville, N.C., just a few miles away from CMS.

This Week’s Camaro…The No. 31 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet team will utilize chassis TSM-407 this weekend. This weekend will be the second time TSM-407 will be used. In its debut last week at Kansas Speedway, Allgaier qualified second, led 14 laps and finished fifth.

In-Car Camera…For Friday night’s Dollar General 300 at CMS the No. 31 BRANDT Chevrolet will carry an in-car camera sponsored by Chevy. Television coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. EDT with NNS Countdown on ESPN2.The 200-lap race can also be heard on PRN and SiriusXM Satellite Radio channel 90 beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.

Recapping Kansas Speedway…The NNS made its one and only stop at Kansas Speedway last weekend for the Kansas Lottery 300 on Saturday afternoon. With a brand new chassis out of the TSM shop, Allgaier hit the track on Friday for the two practice sessions of the weekend. He finished the first session in seventh and 13th in the final practice session. Allgaier went out 30th in the qualifying order on Saturday morning and posted a lap time of 29.338 seconds. That lap time earned Allgaier the second starting position for the Kansas Lottery 300 on Saturday. After a caution-filled race and leading 14 laps, Allgaier brought the No. 31 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevrolet home in the fifth position for TSM.

Crew Chief Scott Zipadelli on Charlotte Motor Speedway:

“We have been busy building new chassis at TSM, and this weekend at Charlotte [Motor Speedway] will be our second time running this particular chassis. It’s the same one we ran at Kansas [Speedway], and we had a good run with it last weekend. Our mile-and-a-half program is improving, and we just need to be nice and steady this weekend.”

Justin Allgaier on Charlotte Motor Speedway:

“I always look forward to racing at Charlotte [Motor Speedway]. We had a great run last weekend at Kansas [Speedway] with a new chassis from the shop. We qualified second, led laps and finished fifth, so that was a huge confidence boost to the team. We also moved up to fifth in the points standings, which is always good for team morale and for my sponsor BRANDT. This track is so close to home and Turner Scott Motorsports, and everyone gets to sleep in their own bed. It’s nice that crew guys can bring their family to track.”

Kyle Larson
No. 32 Target Chevrolet Camaro
Charlotte Motor Speedway | Dollar General 300
October 11, 2013

There’s No Place Like Home…The NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) competes at the 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) this weekend, a track that most NNS drivers and teams, including Kyle Larson and Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) consider to be their home track. Larson has raced at CMS one previous time, making his debut at the Concord, N.C. track in the NNS back in May. In his previous start at CMS, Larson finished fourth, earning his second of eight top-five finishes this season.

Double Duty…In addition to running the NNS race on Friday night, Larson will also be making his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) debut at CMS. Larson will pilot the No. 51 Target Chevrolet SS for Phoenix Racing in Saturday night’s Bank of America 500. The NNS Rookie of the Year contender will also run the NSCS race at Martinsville Speedway for Phoenix Racing, owned by TSM co-owner Harry Scott Jr., on Sunday, October 27. Larson will compete for Earnhardt Ganassi Racing fulltime in the NSCS in 2014, piloting the No. 42 Target Chevy in addition to returning to TSM in the NNS.

Right On Target…Target, Larson’s fulltime sponsor in the NSCS in 2014, will adorn the No. 32 Camaro this weekend, marking the first time that Larson will drive with the bullseye on his hood. Target will also serve as the sponsor for Larson’s NSCS debut on Saturday night. Minneapolis-based Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) serves guests at 1,870 stores – 1,788 in the United States and 82 in Canada – and at Target.com. Since 1946, Target has given 5 percent of its profit through community grants and programs; today, that giving equals more than $4 million a week. For more information about Target’s commitment to corporate responsibility, visit target.com/corporateresponsibility.

This Week’s Camaro…The No. 32 Target team, led by crew chief Trent Owens, have prepared TSM-409 for action at CMS. This chassis will make its on-track debut at CMS, as TSM-409 is a brand new chassis out of the TSM stable.

Watch and Listen…The Dollar General 300 will air live on ESPN2 on Friday, October 11 with prerace coverage beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT with NNS Countdown. The race will also be broadcast on PRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Satellite Radio, channel 90.

Previous Race Recap…Kansas Speedway marked the final race on this year’s NNS schedule where Larson competed at a track for the very first time. After finishing ninth in first practice, Larson was forced to a backup car after a spin in the final NNS practice of the weekend. Despite not making a single lap on the track with his backup car, Larson was able to drive the No. 32 Cessna Chevrolet to a 19th-place starting position. The Kansas Lottery 300 started off strong for Larson, as he drove up to the fourth position before a broken splitter sent his No. 32 to the garage and relegated him and the Cessna team to a 30th-place finish.

Kyle Larson on Charlotte Motor Speedway:

“I am really looking forward to this weekend at Charlotte. It’s always nice to be able to sleep in your own bed on a race weekend and to get to have your family and friends out for the race. I will have a lot of track time this weekend, running in both Nationwide and Sprint Cup, so hopefully that will help me get a solid finish and get the No. 32 team back on track.”

James Buescher
No. 34 Fraternal Order of Eagles Camaro
Charlotte Motor Speedway | Dollar General 300
October 11, 2013

Backyard Brawl…James Buescher and his Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) team will make the short trek over to Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS) for their second consecutive NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start. Regrouped from last week, Buescher looks to continue his success at the 1.5-mile oval. The last time Buescher competed in a NNS car at CMS, he made his way up from a mid-pack starting spot to earn a top-10 finish.

Going Pink for a Cause…With the support of The Fraternal Order of Eagles (F.O.E.), the No. 34 TSM team will turn their Chevy Camaro pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. The F.O.E. is a big supporter of cancer research and hope to create extra awareness for finding a cure with this paint scheme. The Fraternal Order of Eagles is an international non-profit organization, which unites fraternally in the spirit of liberty, truth, justice, and equality, to make human life more desirable by lessening its ills, and by promoting peace, prosperity, gladness and hope. The F.O.E. was founded in 1898 by six theatre owners gathered in a Seattle shipyard to discuss a musician’s strike. After addressing the matter, they agreed to “bury the hatchet” and form “The Order of Good Things.” As numbers grew, members changed the name to “The Fraternal Order of Eagles.” Presently, F.O.E. membership is almost one million strong, with more than 1,700 local aeries in the U.S. and Canada. Women’s auxiliaries total more than 1,500, with more than 335,000 members. Among its many accomplishments, the F.O.E. counts the founding of Mother’s Day and esteemed members include seven former U.S. Presidents.

This Week’s Camaro…The No. 34 F.O.E.team will unload TSM-410, a brand new chassis, this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Last Time Out…Buescher and his TSM team took advantage of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series off week to race in the NNS at Kansas Speedway. After a qualifying effort that left them wanting more, the No. 34 F.O.E. crew fought all 200 laps to tighten up their Chevrolet Camaro for Buescher. A late-race yellow flag allowed the team to duck down pit road for a last ditch effort to gain positions. The pit stop played out as planned, allowing Buescher and his TSM team to bring their F.O.E Chevy home in the 15th position.

Watch and Listen…The Dollar General 300 can be seen live on Friday, October 11 on ESPN2. Race coverage will begin at 7:00 p.m. EDT. The event can also be heard live on PRN Radio as well as SiriusXM Radio, channel 90.

James Buescher on Racing at Charlotte:

“I’m really excited about our chances at Charlotte [Motor Speedway]. The guys back at TSM have prepared another new chassis for us to run this week. I feel like we were able to learn a lot at Kansas that we can use at Charlotte. My sponsor, F.O.E., is running a pink paint scheme this week in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. I’m proud to race their car and hope to help create awareness for the fight against cancer.”
