David Starr to race in NASCAR Nationwide Series event at Texas Motor Speedway

Texas Native to Compete in O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 for Viva Motorsports

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (October 29, 2013) – Houston native David Starr is set to race in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race on Saturday, November 2 at Texas Motor Speedway.  Starr, who has 38 starts across NASCAR’s top three national touring series at the 1.5-mile track, now resides in Fort Worth, Texas and identifies Texas Motor Speedway as his “home track.”  With funding from several Texas-based partners, Starr will compete in the No. 55 Chasco Constructors / Striping Technology L.P. Chevrolet Camaro for Viva Motorsports with Frank Cicci.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to race at Texas Motor Speedway,” commented Starr.  “It means a lot to me to be able to race at my home track where all of my friends and family come out to watch the race.  We have so many great partners on board to make this opportunity possible, and I can’t thank them enough–from Chasco Constructors, to Striping Technology L.P., Texas Farms and Ranches, Texas Pride Trucking and Oil Field Services, Steely Lumber Company, A-Affordable Office Furniture, Niece Equipment, Aubrey Healthmart Pharmacy, Brandon Hightower Racing, Lance Fenton, Tommy Merritt for Agriculture Commissioner, Build Your Future, Larry Hilderbrand and Jennifer Nunez–so many great companies and individuals came together to make this opportunity possible.  We had a great race with Viva Motorsports at Indianapolis Motor Speedway earlier this season, and I’m looking forward to pairing with the team again this weekend.  My crew chief, Jason Miller, and the team build great cars and I’m happy to be behind the wheel.”

Starr will pilot the No. 55 Chasco Constructors / Striping Technology, L.P. Chevrolet Camaro for Viva Motorsports with Frank Cicci.  It will be Starr’s second race of the season for the China Grove, N.C.-based team, and his eighth NNS race of his career at his home track.  Starr has three top-25 finishes in NNS competition at Texas Motor Speedway including his last two races at the 1.5-mile track.

“Chasco Constructors first partnered with David in 2010,” commented Chaz Glace, owner of Chasco Constructors.  “Time and again it has proven to be an excellent decision for our company.  David is a fierce competitor on the race track, and an excellent brand ambassador away from the track.  Chasco Constructors has been a proud partner of David Starr for the last three years and we look forward to continuing that relationship this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.”

“At Striping Technology, L.P., we think the world of David Starr,” commented Linda Rudd, owner of Striping Technology, L.P.  “David is such a nice man, he is always smiling and great with people, he handles himself well and is very professional.  He’s not only a great driver, but he’s also an excellent brand ambassador.  Striping Technology, L.P. is very happy to support David Starr, and we are proud to be a part of his racing program.”

In addition to funding from Chasco Constructors and Striping Technology, L.P., several other Texas-based companies will back Starr’s efforts in the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.  Those companies include:  Texas Farms and Ranches, Texas Pride Trucking and Oil Field Services, Steely Lumber Company, A-Affordable Office Furniture, Niece Equipment, Aubrey Healthmart Pharmacy, Brandon Hightower Racing, Lance Fenton, Tommy Merritt for Agriculture Commissioner, Build Your Future, Larry Hilderbrand and Jennifer Nunez.  The support from Texas companies will also be apparent in the team Starr chose to partner with, as El Paso-based Viva Auto Group is one of the major supporters behind Viva Motorsports with Frank Cicci.

Competitors in the NASCAR Nationwide Series will take on Texas Motor Speedway this weekend for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300.  Tickets for adults begin at just $25, while admission for kids 12 & under begins at $10.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 817.215.8500 or online at TexasMotorSpeedway.com.   Additionally, live television coverage will begin on Friday, November 1, with two practice sessions (2 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1; 6 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 2), and will continue on Saturday, November 2 with qualifying (12 p.m. ET on Fox Sports 1).  Live coverage of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 will air on ESPN 2, PRN, and Sirius XM NASCAR Radio at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 2.
