Whitt Overcomes Pit Road Obstacle to Finish 20th at Texas

Cole Whitt Race Summary: In his third NASCAR Nationwide Series start at Texas Motor Speedway, Cole Whitt started 12th in the No. 44 Takagi Tankless Water Heaters Toyota. The Ninth Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge was just that, a challenge for Whitt as he suffered a pit road speeding penalty early on in the 200 lap event. Determined not to let the early penalty dictate his outcome, Whitt and the No. 44 crew rallied to earn their 12th top-20 finish of the season.

Started: 12th

Finished: 20th

Suffered a pit road speeding penalty early on in the race.

Made three pit stops to help tighten up a “free” Takagi Tankless Water Heaters Toyota.

Whitt is in a three way tie for 21st in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Driver Points Standing.

His 20th place finish helped solidify the 20th position in the Owner Points Standing, now -25 points out of 19th.

Whitt: “I am disappointed with my pit road speeding penalty. We made gains with the handling of the car, but the penalty set us back. We had a top-15 car for sure. I wish I could have earned a better finish for Takagi, I’m grateful for their partnership this season. I look forward to our next race in two weeks at Homestead Miami Speedway.”
