Elliott Sadler No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota

Phoenix International Raceway II Event Preview

ARIZONA RACING: The No. 11 OneMain Financial team and Elliott Sadler travel west to Phoenix International Raceway this weekend for the NASCAR Nationwide Series event. With nine Nationwide Series starts at Phoenix, Sadler scored one victory in 2012, as well as three top-five finishes. The driver also has 18 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at the track with one top-10 finish and 17 laps lead.

LOOKING BACK: In the November 2012 event at Phoenix International Raceway, Sadler hit the wall during qualifying, forcing the team to bring out the back-up car. After starting the race from the rear of the field per NASCAR rules, Sadler methodically worked his way into the top 10 after only 70 laps. Fighting for position, a car made contact with Sadler, causing major damage and relegated the driver to finish 22nd.

DOUBLE DUTY: Sadler will have a busy weekend at Phoenix, competing in both the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series throughout the weekend. After competing in the No. 11 OneMain Financial Toyota on Saturday, Sadler will strap into the No. 55 Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.

MEET SADLER: Fans will have the opportunity to meet Sadler on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the OneMain Financial branch at 4819 N. 83rd Ave., Phoenix, AZ. For more information, visit www.onemainracing.com

TO THE POINT: Sadler sits in the fourth position in the Nationwide Series driver championship point standings, 81 points behind the leader with two races remaining in the 2013 season.

LAST RACE: Texas Motor Speedway: Starting from the 19th position, Sadler and the OneMain Financial team wasted little time working their way to the front. With quick pit stops and track position strategy, Sadler was able to work his way into the top five at the halfway point. On the final restart of the race, Sadler was shuffled back to the seventh position, where he would take the checkered flag.

Elliott Sadler Quotes:

“We are getting down to the end of the season here, but this OneMain Financial team is relentless. We learned a lot the last race at Phoenix International Raceway, so we are looking forward to gunning for the victory here this weekend. This track is either feast of famine for me, but in the first race here in March, we were able to have a solid fifth-place finish. We feel good about our setup and feel like we have the opportunity to finish this season off strong.”
