Josh Wise to Race for Phil Parsons Racing

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Team Will Switch to Chevrolet in 2014

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (December 4, 2013) – Phil Parsons Racing (PPR) is proud to announce that Josh Wise will join the team for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season. In addition to welcoming Wise to the team, PPR will switch manufacturers and become a Chevrolet team, with Wise piloting the No. 98 Chevy SS next year.

PPR competed in its first NSCS race in 2012 and earned their best finish in the 2013 Daytona 500. PPR is owned by former NASCAR driver Phil Parsons. Parsons competed in nearly 500 races among the NSCS and NASCAR Nationwide Series, finding success in both series and excelling at some of NASCAR’s most famous tracks, including wins at Talladega Superspeedway, Bristol Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway. After stepping away from the driver’s seat, Parsons moved into the broadcasting world and has worked as a NASCAR analyst for FOX Sports since 2003.

Wise has 69 starts in NASCAR’s top series, with his best start and finish both coming at Talladega Superspeedway in 2013. In addition to his NSCS experience, Wise also has several years of experience in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Prior to coming to NASCAR, the Riverside, Calif. native earned numerous championships in the open-wheel ranks, where he started his professional racing career. Wise makes the move to PPR after racing for Front Row Motorsports the past two seasons.

“I am really looking forward to joining Phil Parsons Racing in 2014,” said Wise. “While I enjoyed my time at Front Row Motorsports, and am thankful for that opportunity and feel I’m leaving the team on good terms, I am still really excited for what next season will bring. I think it was time for a change. I appreciate Phil, Mike Curb and everyone at Phil Parsons Racing giving me this opportunity. The team has a lot of exciting things going on for next year, and I’m thankful to be a part of it.”

“We are really excited to have Josh on board for next season,” said Parsons. “He has continued to get better and better each year that he has competed in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. It’s a reunion of sorts for Josh, having previously raced for Mike Curb. We all think a lot of Josh, and with him as our driver and Chevrolet as our manufacturer, we all hope 2014 is the year we can show what this team can do.”

PPR continues to look for marketing partners for the 2014 NSCS season. For information on partnering with the team, please contact PPR at 704-992-5551.

Wise will take over the reins of the No. 98 Chevy SS in the 2014 season opener at Daytona International Speedway. The Daytona 500 will take place on Sunday, February 23. The race will air on FOX as well as MRN and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
