Organization takes home Platinum and Gold for 2013 marketing efforts
CONCORD, N.C. (Jan. 9, 2014) – Roush Fenway Racing (RFR) – NASCAR’s winningest team on the race track – has been recognized for its industry-leading marketing efforts by receiving multiple MarCom awards. The team was awarded the prestigious MarCom Platinum Award for its 2013 “Let Ricky Race” campaign that featured NASCAR Rookie of the Year Ricky Stenhouse Jr., and Best Buy Racing. In addition, the organization won Gold MarCom awards for its “Driven” brand and PR campaigns, and its 2013 Pillow Pets “Introduction to NASCAR” platform.
The acknowledgement marks RFR’s second Platinum award in the last three years and the third consecutive year the organization has been honored by the esteemed awards panel.
“It is quite an honor to have our work recognized by such a respected platform as the MarCom awards,” said RFR president Steve Newmark. “We are especially proud of our increasing ability to provide added marketing services, solutions and visibility to our partners. The MarCom award honors excellence in the communications field and recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals, with over 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries in the 2013 competition. Winners were selected from over 200 categories in seven forms of media and communication efforts – marketing, publications, marketing/promotion, public service/pro bono, creativity and electronic/interactive. About 19 percent of the entries, including Roush Fenway, brought home Platinum honors.

MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence. Judges are industry professionals who look for companies and individuals whose talent exceeds a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.
In 2011 RFR won a Platinum MarCom for its successful RickyVsTrevor program. In addition, the team won a Gold MarCom for its “25 Winning Years” campaign in 2012. The organization was also recognized by PR News with a Social Media Icon award for its groundbreaking efforts on the Google+ platform in 2012.
MarCom entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers. The competition has grown to one of the largest of its kind, with winners ranging in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies.
