HAMPTON, Ga. (January 10, 2014) – A full schedule of racing action showcasing numerous types of motorsports is planned at Atlanta Motor Speedway throughout 2014, with the events culminating during the Labor Day Weekend of NASCAR night racing onAug. 29-31.
Over the course of 2014, Atlanta Motor Speedway will offer a vast array of exciting and thrilling racing action for visitors of all ages from local grassroots racing to NASCAR night racing on Labor Day Weekend. In addition, the Speedway will host numerous shows, events and driving experiences throughout the year.
Labor Day weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway will include three days filled with racing action and is one of the top events on the NASCAR schedule. Friday night will feature NASCAR Sprint Cup Series qualifying and the return to the USCS Sprint Cars to the ¼-mile “Thunder Ring” for the Sprint Car Shootout. Friday grandstand tickets are $20 and kids 12 and under will be admitted free when accompanied by an adult general admission ticket.
Saturday’s activities include NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice sessions leading up to the NASCAR Nationwide Series night race that evening. Saturday grandstand tickets start as low as $30 and kids 12 and under get in free when accompanied by an adult general admission ticket.
NASCAR’s top drivers will race door-to-door for 500 thrilling miles on one of the circuit’s most exciting and challenging trackson Sunday Night with the return of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Sunday grandstand tickets are priced as low as $39 with tickets for kids starting at $19 with a valid student ID.
Atlanta Motor Speedway will premiere a new event on April 26-27, the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama. The biggest car show of the year in the Atlanta area, the event will feature cars of many types and eras, a swap meet, car corral, autocross competition and more events celebrating anything with a motor. The grassroots short-track racing series Thursday Thunder will return to Atlanta Motor Speedway in 2014. Drivers in Legends and Bandolero cars will compete in a total of ten races on the ¼-mile “Thunder Ring” in a series that has produced NASCAR stars such as David Ragan, Joey Logano and Chase Elliott. Thursday Thunder opens with a special Saturday race on May 17 and then continues with the second race of the season on June 5 and concludes on July 24.
In its eighth full season in 2014, Friday Night Drags & Show-N-Shine also returns to the pavement of Atlanta Motor Speedway. One of the most successful local racing programs in the country, Friday Night Drags allows competitors to drag race a wide range of vehicles on the pit lane drag strip. Competitors in past years have raced a variety of cars in addition to trucks, motorcycles, ATVs and more. The 2014 season opens on May 9 with the points opener on May 30. The 2014 points season will wrap up on Aug.15 with a pair of Fall Stampede dates schedule for Sept. 12 and 19.
In addition to the competitive racing action in 2014, Atlanta Motor Speedway will also host numerous shows, events and driving schools.
