Marcos Ambrose Proud to be Only International Sprint Cup Driver

Australian Driver Only Full-Time Sprint Cup Driver Born Outside United States

Marcos Ambrose will carry the colors of Mac Tools on the No. 9 Ford for the one and only time this weekend at the one-mile Phoenix International Speedway just outside the city of Phoenix.  Ambrose will be making his 12th Sprint Cup start at the track.  His best finish is eighth and start is third, both with Richard Petty Motorsports.

.@MarcosAmbrose is the only full time #NASCAR Sprint Cup driver from outside the US, but “Loves carrying the International flag for NASCAR.”

With Juan Pablo Montoya moving to IndyCar, @Marcos Ambrose is now the only full-time @NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver.  “It’s great for Richard Petty Motorsports, and it’s great for our sport too,” says Ambrose.

“I’m proud to be from Australia and carry the international flag in NASCAR. The sport is wildly popular back home as is Richard Petty. Everyone knows Richard Petty, and it’s cool to be the guy that is representing Richard Petty Motorsports and NASCAR globally.

“Richard Petty Motorsports is really a team that reaches globally with our partners Stanley Black and Decker and Smithfield Foods- both companies who play on an international stage. My fans back home want to order the fan gear and can relate cause they know the companies that support us. They are dedicated and loyal, it’s amazing to see that and I love it.

“I think I help not only our team, but NASCAR as well being the only international driver full-time. Juan Pablo was good for our sport too, and I believe we’ll see more international drivers in the future. Right now, I’m proud to carry the International fans of our sport, especially for my fans home in Australia who I really love.”

No. 9 Mac Tools Ford

A performance and marketing driven company, Richard Petty Motorsports, co-owned by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty and successful business entrepreneurs Andrew Murstein and Douglas Bergeron, is one of the most recognized brands in all of motorsports. With a history of over 200 wins and business partnerships with national and global leaders, today the race operation fields two teams in competition in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. Aric Almirola pilots the famous No. 43 Ford Fusion with primary partners Smithfield Foods, U.S. Air Force, STP, Strike Ten Entertainment and Fresh From Florida, and Marcos Ambrose drives the No. 9 machine with primary partners STANLEY, DEWALT, Mac Tools and Twisted Tea. In addition, Dakoda Armstrong wheels the No. 43 WinField Ford Mustang full-time in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. The team is headquartered in Concord, N.C.
