EARNHARDT SET FOR SECOND RACE WITH JD MOTORSPORTS

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Jeffrey Earnhardt rolls into Phoenix International Raceway this week for his third shot at the relatively flat one-mile track in the Arizona desert.

Earnhardt, now in his first full season in the Nationwide Series, will drive the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller No. 4 Chevrolet in Saturday’s Blue Jeans Go Green 200 at PIR.

The race is the second of the Nationwide season.

Earnhardt ran twice at PIR last season, finishing 20th in each race.

“We ran well there last year with a small team,” Earnhardt said. “I feel like going back with Johnny Davis Motorsports that we can run really, really well. There’s no reason we can’t go there and get a top-15 finish. These guys are great to work with.”

Earnhardt said he enjoys racing on the relatively new surface and new configuration at PIR.

“The ‘old’ Phoenix I hated,” he said. “But the new Phoenix is pretty sweet. It has some good action, and I seem to click pretty good there last year.”

Practice will begin for Nationwide drivers at PIR at 1 p.m. (ET) Friday. Another round is scheduled at 5 p.m.

Qualifying – in NASCAR’s new “knockout” format – is scheduled at 12:10 p.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 3:45 p.m.
