MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 5, 2014) – Michael Annett and the No. 7 Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS race team out of the Tommy Baldwin Racing stable take on the first intermediate racetrack on the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series schedule this Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Annett, a Cup Series Rookie of the Year candidate making his first Cup start at LVMS, has four NASCAR Nationwide Series races there under his belt, with his most recent coming in 2012. He finished 13th in both races in which he was running at the finish.
In 10 Nationwide Series races last season on 1.5-mile tracks – the same length as the track in Las Vegas – he averaged a finish of 14.6 and was running at the conclusion at each of them, finishing on the lead lap in all but one.
Kevin “Bono” Manion, Annett’s crew chief, oversaw cars driven by Jamie McMurray that finished eighth and 13th at LVMS in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
The race airs live Sunday, March 9 at 3 pm Eastern on FOX.
MICHAEL ANNETT QUOTE:
“I’ve been watching in-car video from this race last year, just getting a feel for how these Cup cars drive. I received some intermediate track test time late last year at Charlotte, but I’m eager to get on the track in Vegas. Having a test day on Thursday is huge for us and will allow us to learn about ourselves and about the track that we can use to our advantage come Sunday.”
